i thought Yao played better than last game. but i'm wrong. He shot too many jumpers. He needs to be more aggressive and attack more. (too bad, maybe he was told to pass first, be the perfect decoy. ) i guess we have to accept his TO number around 3-4. hope he could do a better job at rebounding. now i understand why yao get tired. so many body contacts, pushing, fighting for better position. getting double team. it's quite demanding. when yao is hot, use him 100%. Lowry knows how to pass the ball to Yao. quick, decisive and good timing. yao doesn't have to scarify his position too much. Clip #39 is a classic sample of Me-mode Artest. Clip #40 a brain dead pass. Yao, play better. for the team.
Great job. When CHA tried to double team Yao earlier, the second player hestitaed a little bit to reach in in earlier game. That's probably the reason Yao caught ball alright. But in clutch time, thwy became faster to double yao, Rockets still had problem to give yao the ball. It looked like when Yao touched the ball, good thing happened most time.
durvasa, if it's not too much trouble, PLEASE make a video for the Spurs game today. Normally I'd be happy with Yao taking 17 shots, but with Duncan playing him 1 on 1 for most parts of the game, I thought Yao should've taken at least 22-23+ shots today. Obviously, that Brooks' wild layup when we were down 1 should've instead been a post feed to Yao.
DD, i wanna post plays video of tonight, it's out of control that they didnt pass yao too many times 4th Q.
Another gread thread, durvasa. Really appreciate it. Bobcats didn't use the double team as frequently or as effectively as the Lakers did. I thought Bryant timed his doubles better, and Charlotte didn't put enough pressure on the passer. As another poster noted, this may be due to the difference in athleticism between the Bobcats and the Lakers. Okafur played Yao pretty tough both one-on-one and with help, especially late in the game, but there's too big a size difference between him and Yao. Clip #33 and 34 showed the double team coming with Battier in the opposite corner from Yao, similar to what happened in the Lakers game and gave them so much trouble. But this time, when his defender moves to double Yao, Battier rotates over to the top of the three-point arc, while Lowry slides behind the basket and takes Battier's place at the corner. This leaves Battier open and Yao hits him with a pass. (Battier opts to pass both times instead of taking the shot.) An adjustment by Adelman? And LOL at Clip #23.5. "Yao takes the flop and Dikembe won't even look!"
Again great job Durvasa! Why don't you ask Rockets2K for the HD space? He has been great in the last few years uploading every Rockets game.
i think okafor played great defense on yao. he didn't give in an inch the entire game when playing behind yao. gotta give it to yao for having a great shooting night tho.
noticed Yao going away from his bread and butter move. And when he takes too many dribbles it usually results in a turnover. When he was putting up monster numbers during the JVG era he didn't have the hook shot yet, he would just power dribble two or three times , bump and fade to the middle, and he did that on multiple occasions in the bobcats game and that jumper is pure money just as his freethrow is. Yao should go more often with that move, sometimes he resorts exclusively to the hook shot which is also good but needs quite a few dribbles for him to execute. From watching those post clips, Yao's most decisive move is that short post jumper in the middle after bumping the defender.
