Amare career avg is 21pts 9.1 rebs. Yao is 19pts and 9.2 rebs. Is that clear enough or do we need to include "intangibles" or something like that.

Killer, jordan was in his 7th yr in the league and still probably the best athelete in the league when he won his first title. Shaq was dominant from day 1, so was dream and they were grea atheletes. I guess I'm missing something when you bring up toughness. You keep bring up atheletes and I'm saying that no matter what level of athelete you are, if you want to lead, you have to be tough physically, emotionally, and mentally. You have to be able to impose your will and put your footprints on the game no matter the situation. I'm glad he made the big shot at the end, my concern was the same bow down mentality I started to see just like vs utah. The harder they pushed, it just seemed like he bowed down some. Maybe I'm just hating, but I know I wasn't the only one that started to see him fade in the middle of the key when jefferson got really physicall against him.

NO I believe Yao is flawed like every other player, but since he is a one of a kind, people will hold his flaws against him more....... I believe he could be better, but i also believe people will always expect him to be better, even if he wins MVPs and rings and we are all satisfied.

RIGHT NOW BBS is his hardest critic

If he wins, the world will look for the giant to fall, human nature.

He's been falling for a while now already and I want him to maximize his strengths but not at the expense of being made out to be a bully.

I don't think you guys want him to be a bully either but if he throws his huge stature around he stands the chance of hitting and falling over a lot of other playesr and that can't be good for bodies or fouls.

He could get more aggressive but without the SHAQ approach (bully, right,i hate him) and I'm fine with that.

If you can persuade Yao to TATOO something first, then hang around night club, get some DUI tickets and screw some cheerleader/room service. Finally Yao can start kicking some bad ass. But do you really like that Yao over this?

Yao is a finesse player.. Shaq is a physical player 2 different players. Another thing is i think Yao can do it if he had a teammate that would tell him or pump him up more often to put it in his head. 7'6. What are you gonna do? dunk on them!!!!!

just to add if someone didn't hear webber's and barkley's rant earlier about amare. you're a dominant big man not when you just score, but when you also impact on the boards and defense, esp. the boards.

webber in his prime, who was not that "quick" per se but crafty, still put up 11-12 boards a night, playing with another big guy in divac/miller.

we NEED yao to dominate the boards. there will be nights when we need him to clean up the boards (ala game 7 v. utah). sure he can get away with games where he gets 3-4 rebounds v. subpar competition, but not when we go v. the lakers' big men, or the celtics' big men, or utah's big men...

our guards aren't gonna take those rebounds away from the boozers, kgs... yao has to do that. and he can. he just has to want to dominate the boards.

chris webber was the epitome of a finesse player (prefers jumpshots, fallaways, crafty passing...). duncan is a finesse player. that doesn't mean you can't be aggressive or dunk on people.

chris webber had one season where he got 13 rebounds a game. and he wasn't the biggest guy, strongest guy, or even the quickest guy if you saw how he plays.

yao has shown he can rebound (he avg 10.7 boards one year). he just has to show the willingness to go grab those boards rather than "tip" them or be satisfied with boxing out.

In opening scribe, I stated clearly that I love Yao's passion and desire to be great. However, all we ask is a hard foul once in a while to let people know that there will be "no layups or dunks" tonight. We need someone in the paint to intimidate people, not only change shots.

I think we would like to see a hard fould instead of the touch foul and the and one.

Bottom line, I'm glad to have Yao as our center, however, I will be glad when Yao starts intimidating in the lane. Please stop with the comparison to Shaq, even Shawn "Marshmello" Bradley gave a hard foul sometimes.

Didn't it take an unnamed Celtic 8 years to make out of the 1st round, while players, like Gervin and Dominique rarely went beyond the 1st round of the playoffs.

I'm not saying he is as good TD, but going deep into playoffs shouldn't be just on one player's shoulder.

Gentlemen, we are talking about Yao intimidating in the paint and giving a hard foul. The same type of fouls he's getting. As stated above, Shawn Bradley was more aggressive than Yao.

BackNTHADAY pgs played better dense than ours I guess.

Yao changes so many shots a fact that is rarely brought up and guards always know where he is, just like KJ on Dream and TMac on Bradley.

We know HE IS NOT THE PLAYER you guys want but you never seem to bring up his name very much in the RANDOM TRADE THREAD for a reason, right?

AB is not tall enough for the NBA because taller guys are better at D and D wins championships so should I bring up that he is too short every day?

I can..... its not very fun.

How about ways of using Yaos attributes to his advantage for a change maybe.

I say that Yao should stop setting picks in Dallas and play closer to the basket all of the time and let the guards create their own shots. Or give him the ball 2 ft from the rim.

I say yao just guard the basket instead of his man on the 3 pt line. So when he gets a rebound we can race for a fast break. A ayup instead of a shot from the parking lot.

I say Yao knock our guards and forwards on their butts and tell them guard their own damn man so he doesn't have to worry about it. So he can be aggressive against the centers he usually abuses instead of having other guys men abuse him.

BACKNTHADAY thats what a center may do. But this is a new day I guess.

BACKNTHADAY Dream scored 3 in the playoffs against Kemp and he also dropped 30 + as well.

No player is perfect and I don't see any one coming up with a hands down better player at his position to trade him for...... so lets accept him for what he can do and not for what he can't, as we expect others to do for us as well.

Where is the positivity about Yao, the rest of the world has made him an all star, shouldn't we treat him like one every once in a while? he is a rocket right?

Did you not seen my compliment to Yao when I started the thread. Yao has great passion and desire to be great, which is fantastic.

All I ask that Yao give back a hard foul for everyone he receives and stop players from thinking they can dunk on him at will. At least Shawn Barely gave a hard foul to make people think twice about driving the lane.

Don't get me wrong love his offensive game, some more aggressiveness on defense would be great.
