I have no idea how come you say like that. What Houston and Yao both chase is the championship in the near future. If the fact is the combination does not work for that, why do not we just change the direction and being realistic? Again, I do not wanna offend someone, just wanna have a discussion with you guys. And I know I will be rated one star  ouch :(

This is one of the stupidest comments i ever heard. Yao's defenses is not as good due to his limitation of his size?? How the hell do you figure that out?? Yao single-handedly is the ONLY player in this entire f**king league that have the ability to alter every f**king shot that team try to score inside. He is the only player that force team to take jump shot after jump shot and you say he's not a great defender?? Did you see Yao block that mfker Gasol? Did you see him denying and alter every ****ing drive by inside?? Tell me one ****ing player in this league that can do that? And you tell me that Yao is not a good defender?? Plz!!! Sure Yao is not a great defender with that pick and roll but who does?? Who does when it comes to center or big man??
I don't know what you consider as great defender...but when a player can alter every damm shot inside and block great players like Duncan and Gasol in a one-on-one post up game and you don't consider that as a greater defender, then i don't what the **** is a greater defender.

Then, they needs to go another direction, FIRING THE COACH and ACQUIRING A GOOD GUARD! Do not misapprehend me, I also would like to see Yao stay in Houston for the rest of his career life. But if the puzzle could not put together eventually, we has got to figure out one way to let them work instead of wasting the time for the unsolvable question.

sigh, if you wanna convince someone, what are you gonna do? USING SOME WORDS THEY LIKE TO HEAR! right? sigh, I do not wanna be that straightforward.... To be honest, Yao is lack of rebounding capability. But coming to the point, whether he is a good defensive player or nor, whether he sets the tone of game or nor, whether he is capable of changing the shots of opponents or not. we all know the fact.

I heard on the radio that pigs are flying in the sky.

    Houston's goals are:

    1. Make the play-offs - done

    2. Secure home court advantage in the first round - work in progress

    3. Win the first round - tbc

    4. Win the championship - work in progress

    5. Resign Yao to an extension - work in progress

    6. Surround Yao with more talent - work in progress

    7. Cull the GARM of the panic merchants - highly recommended

    8. Establish a winning culture and rediscover the heart of a champion - work in progress

Yao is his own man, as such he's free to make his own decisions. If he leaves the Rockets as a FA, the Rockets will survive and move forward. Dream went to Canada and we signed Pippen, things could change. I expect the Rockets to do what's in their best interest and Yao need to do what's in his best interest. I believe (hope) that the two are not contradictory, who knows.

But if Yao leaves as a FA (not even demanding a trade) and the Rockets get nothing in return, he would definitely be up there in terms of hated sports figures by Houston. A little ahead of Clemens (only because we expected him to be a snake) and a little behind Pippen (he demanded a trade, but he did so in a way as to erase the entire leverage Houston had, where the best player we got from the trade was Kelvin Cato).

very lame thread but brooksball brought up a good point about whether Yao and Adelman is a good mix. frankly, the NBA currently is a very guard oriented game especially when the old illegal defense rule have been scrapped. but that is just an excuse. as mentioned couple weeks back, Yao needs to be more assertive. demand for the ball more. and also, Yao seriously needs to learn to play the high post, his low block play is just too predictable and double teams usually easily counter the low block plays. i believe Yao being a good shooter, he should try more high post, top of the key plays, give it a mix of low and high, that might just do the trick. i think Yao still have plenty of room for improvement, i hope we sign him for many more years to come

Is there any real number supporting Yao's reputation as a "cash cow" for the ROX? I am sure he is. I am just curious how much. Like, does he bring in more than LBJ or Kobe?
I mean, if he makes tons of money for Les (for broadcasting rights in China, for example), but Les doesn't use some of that money to sign some serious talent. SHAME ON LES!!!

Yao brings with him his own identity and special following. No financially conscious team would ever trade him because some 'motion offense' coach doesn't utilise him in the correct and effective way. What's easier to replace? A Chinese man with a potential following of a billion people? Or a mediocre coach trying to recreate his old Sacremento days?

    ADELMAN MUST GO.

he has no idea how to use yao

as a result, yao is ineffective and out of rythm

and a guy like him cannot get out of rythm

he is not a free lance type of player that can create for himself so the system must utilize him to his strengths

    adelmans does not

jvg may not have been the best coach for houston but he knew how to use yao

yao is the most dominant big man in the game. But in a guard orientated league, with a coach that let his guards loose. Yao do seem to be in a rather bad position.

Yes I have read the numbers from an article earlier, but with Rick's team, a 3p shooting center, or even a center that can shoot from the high post consistently is a better option than yao. Look at Rick's previous teams. All have a big man that can pass/shoot. At kings he have Webber, Divac and Brad Miller. At blazzers he have Robinson, heck even at warriors he have Joe Smith.

So its either Rick goes or Yao goes. Sticking to Yao may meant another 1-2 years for a new coach to set his print. Which by the end could turn out to be nothing. Or could turn out to be great as the team already have players that can compliment Yao.
