I beliebe that Kevin Johnson once "showboated" on Hakeem and dunked in his face during a playoff game... I believe that Dream got him back then... by leading the Rockets to victory and winning the title that year ... who cares if you get dunked on - the Rockets shouldn't get caught up in that. ACT LIKE YOU HAVE BEEN THERE BEFORE and take care of business (2 points is still 2 points!) -
I thought Amare was going to slap the crap out of Francis last night. Francis was walking that thin line between bravery and stupidity.
You want your big man to contest every single shot. Yao has been dunked on before and Yao will be dunked on again in the future. It's just the way it is. Deal with it. NBA basketball is not for the weak of heart.
Um, wasn't it the Pistons who had the Jordan rules? Jordan kicked NY's ass time and time again (how many times did NY beat Chicago in the playoffs? Once, in '94, with no Jordan.) As long as we kick Phoenix's ass, who cares? Let them act like a bunch of idoits if they score two points. As long as we win, this isn't an issue.
Like Barkley said last night on TNT, those two guys did not want to get into a fight. I think Steve did something with the intention of supporting his team which would assert his leadership on the Rockets. While his actions were questionable, if that was SF's intent, then he deserves praise for stepping up for his teammate. SF, in my opinion, is the most visibly supportive of Yao Ming. Every time Yao gets a vicious dunk I can always hear SF yelling in support. And how many times have we all seen SF jumping into Yao's arms? I think SF should be praised for not only deferring his starring role to Yao Ming but doing so in such a supporting way.
and wind up with a TO or offensive foul on the other end? Amare can posterize all he wants, but he still shot 7 for 26, plus Yao did try to posterize him, but its kinda hard to get posteried when you dont bother contesting the shot
AMEN ! as I just said - two points is two points ! Yao got dunked on once and blocked their shots SIX TIMES ! ...I will take that every game. I thought we were trying to get away from the one-on-one mentality. Let them dunk, as long the ROX hold on the the 20 point lead and NOT LOSE THEIR HEADS about ONE BASKET...
. Damn right, SF3 is my fave player on this team, he is the herat and soul, and a true leader. He's just having a hard time adjusting thats all
Fact of the matter remains that our entire team can't deal with a trapping defense, and we turned it over way too much to be able to win. You guys are just bitter about the loss, and will find anything to blame it on except our inability to deal with the trapping defense for 2 years running. When playoff time comes, the Wolves are going to trap us like crazy, and we better know how to deal with it. Yao was 11 of 16 while Amare was, what, 7 of 25? Amare didn't win this one for the Suns. Yao was one putback away from a 30/20 game. You're blaming him?
What's the big deal with being dunked on???? My goodness some people here are insane. The 'I want to be on sportscenter's top 10 dunks' culture is really destroying the game in more ways than one. A dunk is just two frickn points. It produces the same result as two boring free throws in basketball.
I wouldn't say the entire team, more our backcourt got flustered mightily. BUt I agree with you. Stuart
Yao does not owe SF an apology, but he should be grateful to SF for standing up for him. I think what SF did is stupid but I do appreciate his heart. Fighting for your teamate is a great trait but there was actually nothing to fight for in that situation.
I was worried that SF could get an Flagrant II, home court saved his ass. It was un-sportsman conduct most def.
