    Too short???

He averaged over 20 pts, 10 rebs and 3 blocks 13 years in a row!

I am guessing you weren't aware of the talent Hakeem had around him for about 6 years.

By no means I disrespect Hakeem, I loved the guy, actually Yao made me a Rox fan and I started love Hakeem like crazy.

But talking about finance and marketability, truthfully, Hakeem is not close to Yao.

No, see the problem is with you Yao only people. I am not an Hakeem only person. I am a Houston Rocket person. That means, I have no bias towards any player who ever played, as long as they were a Rocket.

Now, juding by your nick, there is no doubt that you are a Yao only fan. So you are the one who needs to open your mind.

Mad Yao disease is taking over this thread.

He was the #3 leading scorer in the NBA his rookie year.

Yeah, MJ was not a top 5-10 dominant player his rookie year.

I remember his Etonic and McDonalds commercial too.

The best thing was the "Unbeatable" rap song that they made for Hakeem.

my point is VERY clear, Hakeem's marketablity is far less than Yao's.

for those claiming that hakeem wasnt very marketable, what you dont realize is that hakeem turned down big dollar deals with many companies. he turned down companies such nike and reebok and signed with etonic because he didnt want kids to shoot each other for his shoes. he also wanted kids to wear affordable shoes -- etonics went for less than $50.

and dont forget to take into account that the league was less popular worldwide back when hakeem was being drafted. most players werent as marketable back then as players are now because the market was much smaller.

    Marketability does not equal championships

    Dominance/talent equals championships

    Period.

Oh thats fair. Lets compare what players in the year 2003 make in endorsements vs. players from the mid 80s.

The NBA was not a global/marketing giant in the mid 80s like it was today, despite having some of the best players in history (Magic, Bird, etc.).

oh thats fair to compare a year 2003 rookie to a 80s rookie?

clearly as history advances, the indivisual stats on a team only becomes more limited, in every category, ppg, rpg, spg, apg.

Mad Yao disease is causing people to think that Yao is better than the Dream. Horrible disease for someone to have. If you are a true Rockets fan, you would never think this.
