dude just shut up. We know Yao is right now on the team. The thread asked who was better. And when people say that they would rather pick Yao over Hakeem(in his prime) is just disrespectful to this franchise. The people who said that probably became rocket fans this year because of Yao. Those are called Yao only fans. And Yao only fans are ignorant, and think Yao is the only player on this team when you even have a better player named Steve.
Any real Rockets' fan knows Dream was not near his peak when he came into the league. He only started playing basketball when he was 16 or 17.
to lee, how dare you say that?! you just became a roc fan coz of yao huh?! you just disrespected the fans who was with the rocs for a long time even before the championship days severly! dont get me wrong, yao is a VERY PHENOMENAL PLAYER! he's the best thing that happened to the franchise since dream. but sh*t, pickin yao over dream is total madness. the dream carried the rocs and gave the city of houston its first two championships in american team-sports history. man, you are now one of the most ignorant people ive ever met. your among those who think d-rob is better than dream and to those who think amare is better than yao. to farhan007, i agree to you all the way! couldnt have said it better myself!
We're not being ungrateful. Its been declared ok. Hakeem is an all time great at the game. Yao also has the potential to great. But he'll have a bigger impact on the team & the nba more than Hakeem has. And NO we're not YAO MING only fans. I just love BIG men. I started following the rockets when Hakeem came into the picture and now the the spotlight is on YAO. We just come to respect and appreciate what YAO has to offer the game.
I am sick to my stomach. Yao is not even close to the dominating force that Olajuwon was coming out of UH. NOT EVEN CLOSE! People with Mad Yao Disease make me sad.
That's the reason this poll is stupid. And you don't know whether Yao can be that good. Basketball is not all about atheleticism. Wilt is much more atheletic than Russell, but it's Russell who was the biggest winner in basketball history. If you combine Dream's atheleticism and Yao's passing and court vision, you have another Russell.
If you compare Yao and dream now, you are crazy. They are not even close. If you say Yao will never surpass dream or be as good as dream, you are narrow-minded. Therei is no never in this world. Moreover, we have seen tons of potentials in Yao or at least, dream can never be 7'5".
Ex-scews me! Everyone knows that Yao and Hakeem combined are only half the player David Robinson is! Sorry, just had to throw that one in for the Spers fans on the board.
The sun sets on the east west north and south sometimes...HUH? Yeah thats right...stupid answer for a stupid question..... Hakeem.
How in the holy name of crap was this idea deemed worthy for a freaking new topic and a poll? Lamest thing I've seen here in a while. But more importantly, how are there so many posts? And why the **** is the voting as close as it is!?
That's logical, especially considering how well all of the 7'5" and up players have done in the league.
And Yao will never be as quick as Dream or have any hops. Yao will be a great player but he is not even in the same league as Dream. Part of what made Dream so good was his temperment. The guys was competitive and a warrior. He wasn't shy about b**** slapping an opponent or a teammate. He demanded respect from his teammates and opponents. Yao does not have that presence and I doubt he ever will have it. Its not in his personality.
No offense, but... um, what's your point? That was a little incoherent. And on another note, I'm sure someone has mentioned this, but does anyone get the feeling that if this poll was conducted to include only members who had registered before the draft last year that it'd be much more Hakeem-favorable? I'm thinkin 95/5 at LEAST.
