you are a steve lover, and...a yao-hater. why don't you make a poll which yao or steve? that is more easy and fair to argue for
What exactly is your point? Why are you even here? Do you understand that nobody enjoys what you post?
Is it possible to look up the 100+ morons that voted for Yao and ban them? I think it would solve a lot of problems around here...
it is impossible, too difficult. how about to trade yao ming to new york or any else place? btw, what do you mean "a lot of problems around here"? the biggest problem is who made this stupid poll and who made us argue for at first.
LeBron's shoe deal is better than everyone else's in the NBA. Does it tell u he is better than Kobe, TMac ...? Shaq disagreed!
U r right that Hakeem was not at his peak when he came in the league. His BB skills developed every year for a long time. He was one of a very few who developed new moves year after year. On the other hand, he was at his peak physically when he came in. In his college days and first few seasons in the NBA, he jumped higher and quicker and more often than the seasons we won the championships.
I am glad u brought us back to your orginal question. Maybe this can give us a hint: Sampson was billed as "the center of the next millennium" when he graduated from Virginia in 1983. Hakeem was just a year away and playing in the NCAA finals. Many would have picked Ralph over Hakeem if they came out the same year. Why? 7'-4'' with skills will do that for u. Myself, I disagree and think Hakeem should still be picked over the other 2 but it is closer than u think! It is not so crazy to go the other way. It was proven wrong in Sampson's case. The jury is still out on Yao.
Did u see any of those games? Hakeem actually did not do nearly as well against Eaton as he did against shorter centers. He got his shots sent back quite a few times. Yao is 7'-5, 300 lbs.
My original post was, And I got slammed for it? Call me an oldtimer or a hater, or whatever, but Yao has a lot of work to do before he can be mentioned in the same breath as Hakeem. Thats not to say that Yao cant reach the same level that Hakeem did...I'm just saying that the bar is set very, very high.
It is not as far fetched as u think. Hakeem's college numbers were not exceptional. People back then lamented that he should do better in the NBA because they can't zone him. Don't forget, we have another guy playing for us name Cat too.
This is absolutely insane. Any who voted for Yao could not have been watching the Rockets for more than say...oh, a year. Anyone who'd been watching the Rockets during the Hakeem years couldn't even fathom such a question. This is a man who gets mentioned in the same breath with Chamberlain and Russell, not 7'5 Asian Hype Machines.
Right now, I would undoubtedly take Hakeem. You can't say now how good Yao will be in 2-3 years. Just give him more time before you compare him to Hakeem. Hakeem is just the best Rocket in history and is in the top 5 among centers, along with Chamberlain, Jabbar, Russell, Mikan. Period

Already you have people calling the guy overrated or overhyped. The only thing more insane then someone voting for Yao are the people who think it's logical to vote for a first year rookie and a HOF center. Listen to your arguments "You're stupid for voting for Yao, look at Hakeem's championship years". Yeah, lets compare a guy who played for over 15 years to a first year rookie who just came over from another country. A waste of bandwidth.
