And Yao has won zero champinships. So how again can you justify Yao over Hakeem (basides the lame argument of "Marketability")?
I have seen his games and I truly liked those. I don't his passing, court vision, basketball IQ, free throw, shooting range are better than Yao's, but he was more atheltic and physical. all in all, he was a "me first" player.
thats the problem. people like shangai shark never saw hakeem until he was old and a shadow of his former self.
labelling others the most narrow minded yao only fan only speaks you are an anti-yao fan with volume. and you are not a true rox fan.
When did I say Yao over Hakeem? I just say it's not correct to say Yao is not even close to ROOKIE Hakeem. It's simply unfair. Hakeem got two rings, but who know how many rings Yao can win?
The fact that your nick is shanghi sharks, the fact that you became a rox fan just for yao, the fact that you said yao is better than dream becasue of marketability shows how narrowminded YOU are.
Duncan will. and may fill all of his fingers later. (Reminder: You are replying my post comparing Dream and Duncan)
let flip things a little. put hakeem as a rookie on todays rockets with francis, mobley, and posey. i see phi slamma jamma all over again. hakeem with this team would win more championships than yao can with the same team.
but your argument was that it is important to have rings, and Dream has 2. Duncan will prob have2, depending on this week.
I do see both play, and I see their own strength, I never expect Yao to be as physical, speedy, athletic as Dream; yet I have other expectations on him, the team concept, the motion offense, the future of basketball! of course the realization of this is yet to come, I guess most people eyeing onward Yao's future is in the same direction too, not the next Olajuwon or Shaq.
browsing thru my posts, I never stated that "Yao is better than dream because of marketability", you put words in my mouth shows way beyond being narrowminded.
No, Hakeem was a "I will do whatever it takes for my team to win" player. Hakeem was a "if you can't guard your man send him to me and I'll block his shot" player Hakeem was a "hustle, fight, war and never EVER give up" player Hakeem was a "I'll never back down from anyone" player Yao is a "Give me the ball in the right place and in the right kind of system so I can be effective" player Yao is a "you must play your man so I don't foul out" player Yao is a "get pushed out of the lane by 6'8 guys" player Yao is a "several times during the year get dunked on by guards and forwards" type player
I guess Duncan almost locked the second ring, and he is what, only 27. But he is nowhere the talent Hakeem is. I don't think Yao can be next Hakeem or Shaq(Amare may have chance though), but he can contribute to the team like Duncan or Walton whatsoever and win Rox rings.
Till then let's forget this silly poll. I would put Yao in the same sentense of Dream if he can achieve what Duncan will achieve next week in his whole career.
Plus, Hakeem was "Give me more $ or I will go to Toronto player"; Yao was "I bring you tons of $, even at my 1st year" player; "I only sue you for 20c" player";
all in all, he was a "me first" player. thats what i was thinking when hakeem won the MVP trophy and had all his teammates lift it up in the air with him and then listening to him afterwards telling everyone how the trophy was a team award, not just his own. honestly, you really dont know what youre talking about. if hakeem did so well statistically, it was because he had no supporting cast most of his career and because he presented such a tremendous mismatch for the other team.
