r u crazy. Hakeem by a mile. even if Yao gets us 5 rings Hakeem brought Houston from nowhere to where it is.

The only people who vote for yao right now is not true Houston fan but Yao fan. These are the same people who want Yao to shoot the ball everytime and trade all our players to complement Yao.

I will have to go with the "Dream" until Yao brings us two championships.

    Knowing what we know today?

    Gotta go with Hakeem.

Not a knock on Yao, but Hakeem is the man, and everyone knows it.

Yao is a man, with a good chance of becoming "the" man.

Anyone who votes for Yao should come up with the greatest reason in the universe.

Not only Hakeem is a top 5 center but he is also a top 10 player all time

I'm a crazy Yao fan and he's the reason I started really liking the Rockets this year, but there's no way you can pick him over the Dream. Hakeem was unstoppable in his prime.

A stupid vote. Compare one thing that you have hindersight to one thing you don't.

Well, Hakeem is like 41 years old and Yao is only 23. Duh. ;)

Yao will never be the force that Olajuwon was defensively.

that's just ridiculous. i mean, you just asked if we'd pick a rookie who has had one decent but by no means spectacular season over one of the greatest players to ever play the game.

    yeah, that's a good question.

I really hope this question is based on the assumption that we're comparing Yao against Hakeem coming out of college. I think you still have to pick Hakeem given that scenario, due to his success in the American college game, but there's no way Yao is going to be dominating the vote on this board.

You sound so very suprised that someone voted for Yao. Why'd you make the poll in the first place?
Hell, I voted for Yao simply because of how ridiculous this poll is.
Why not just make an MJ vs. Lebron thread? It would be just as silly...

hakeem is one of the greatest centers period. yao is still on the verge of being one. i mean, just in his rookie season, he's already the man. just like hakeem. yao has still lots to learn, but in due time, he might be the next olajuwon. til then, im going with dream.
