I agree. It's ok for Shaq to say "ching-chong...etc". Everyone said the public is being too PC. Shaq is poking fun at Asian culture, who cares, it's a joke.

But what if Yao said, "I'm going to invite Shaq over for some fried chicken and watermelon?" People would be asking for his head. Just like all the uproar over Fuzzy Zoeller when Tiger Woods won the Masters. I don't care, either it's 'too PC' or 'we should be more respectful of others,' but at least have the same standard for everyone.

well, I guess u got me there RocketForver.. but I just wanted to tell u though that it was a Typo, nothing fundamental.. I've always had A's in my AP English classes.. :D

oh, and for the punctuations, the dot dot dot thing is not intended to be ellipsis, it is just to make my posts easier to read by creating more spaces between sentences that are fairly different than the one before.. I dont like to start a whole new paragraph because it will make the post look weird when a paragraph consists of only once sentence..

Actually Zboy has used far worse then moron. I think all contributing members deserve an ounce of respect...it's too bad the newbies and YOF don't have a sense of it. I think you're effort to educate them is laudable.

I admit to b****in about Yao when he seems "soft" or let's those little runts steal the ball, etc. But all in all, if I was starting a team today.....he's the man. I love big man basketball. We are so lucky to get to watch his entire career right here in H town.

You have to love his humility, loyalty and largness. He has his priorities in the right order. My hat is off to him. Bonzi, are you listening?

The well-known moron called other people a moron. LOL. I have asked you again and again NewYorker. Are you ashamed of having been caught lying so many times? Come on, just be a man for one time. Face our questions and confront us. Don't chicken out and keep hiding. Not even a 5 years old would believe your imaginary ignore list now. If you want our forgiveness, gather your courage and admit all your stupid mistakes in the past. Stop being a coward. It might be the beginning or something good for you. You have my support here. *clap* *clap* :)

Another lie from this pathetic liar NewYorker. Sooner or later you will give himself away by replying to GAY4WHO's post. I know it's getting difficult for you to keep track beacuse you have lied to put so many people on your ignore list. You must feel miserable, bitter, angry and hurted now. But you have no one to blame but yourself being a pathetic liar. :)

This thread has veered wildly off topic.

Without doubt, Yao is the best centre in the NBA today, statistically.

I'm just waiting for him to carry the Rox to their 3rd title and throw it down every hater's face.

If he gets the same star treatment served up to Duncan, Wade, Dirk etc, I'd say he would be chance of leading the league in scoring.

It's actually funny. There are members who were here before New Yorker and who also are contributing members calling him a moron. And yet he gives the "newbie/YOF" line.

    Truly amusing indeed.

Yao does average 4 turnovers a game.

    Shaq averages 3.5.

I know I'm just a Chinese YOF who don't know crap, but at most, .5 turnovers = 1 point.

I suppose I'm just plain biased cuz I think 26/11 and 4 turnovers is better than 14/8 and 3.5 turnovers.

I know those are only stats from this year, but a lot of you out there still claim that Shaq is having a better current season.

Also - I saw a game this season where Yao put up 34/14 against a certain Miami Heat team that features two superior, "real man" centers.

No he didn't pound his chest, point to himself, or scream "Who's the MAN!!!?!" after each basket, but I still think Yao played rather effectively that game.

Shouldn't the title be "Heat center falling out of Yao-osphere"?

    Ummmmm..... they aren't contenders now.

Ok Kenny Smith you can hate thats all well and good, but to claim that because we have Yao Ming right now we aren't contenders you must be OUT OF YOUR MIND, or just a really pissed off b**** about something that some Tall Asian Man did to you in that past :).

    brilliant! that sounds about right...

to echo the sentiments of the on-topic posters, its ludicrous to suggest that shaq is anywhere near the player he once was and that yao is now. the stats, game film, etc. dont lie and the talking heads can keep talking as long as yao keeps driving us to Ws

I agree. If we're talking about who's the best this year there's no doubt. Yao by far. He even dominated Shaq head to head. Everyone saw Shaq bringing his 'A' game. Shaq won the sprint in the first few minutes, but Yao killed him in the marathon. Of course people will still come up w/ excuses for Shaq.

And why do some people think KENNY SMITH'S words carry so much weight. Is he the oracle of the NBA? He's another 'analyst'. Done. If you want to use Shaq's past as proof of how good he is right NOW, then maybe we should ask the Dream to come back and start. Because the past means they have to be the same player today right?

What a joke this article by Charlie Rosen is. Towards the bottom of the article he lists the 7 best players in the NBA. Of course, because he has consistently badmouthed Yao, he does not include Yao. I would have had Yao at the number 2 or 3 position with this remark:

Yao Ming - because nobody, but nobody, can guard this guy one on one. End of story!

Actually, it is true that if you put T-Mac with Shaq, that team is a contender...if that means T-Mac is on the Heat and is now in the East. Somehow, I don't think that is the kind of sophisticated point Kenny "the Toreador" Smith is trying to make.

In any case, the fact Shaq is old, fat, and breaking down is a perfectly fair thing to take into account during the discussion of which center is better right now. I'm all for respecting a player's body of work, but anybody who would take Shaq now is imagining a Shaq who has not existed for two years.
