Bingo, Yao was not going to cry about it. However, he knew that was disrespectful and was at the very least a racist-joke/stab at his ethnicity/race/culture/nationality/heritage/country/language/dialect.

He was taking the high-road. What would he have gained from publically crying about it?

Me wonders what would happen had Yao said about Shaq : He is a big-BOY, stand-up brotha', reminds me of Tyrone from a b-ball camp I attended back in '00. Love to have him over for fried chicken....

I think if Shaq remains in his current state then Shaq is done - he's not even the 2nd best center much less the best. But if Shaq returns to form, then yeah, another rematch might tell us more.

If you swapped shaq for yao today, of course it would hurt the rockets - Shaq is on the injured list from knee surgery. So my point is, right now is a bad time to compare them. This is what Kenny was saying.

How do you know Yao was thinking that? Or is that what you want him to think? Yao SAID shaq was joking. That's what Yao said, that's the proof to say Yao didn't hold it against shaq. What proof do you have otherwise other then your own desire to label Shaq a racist?

come on now, you know there is a difference b/t someones public "addressing the media" answer and their "at the privacy of their own home, feelings on the matter"

Privately, I am sure Yao was like what a little, err big jackazz....though obviously I can't confirm that.

I guess you don't know the diff. b/t public comments and private comments....Please..you don't know how the world works do you?

Go live in your little happy place where racism, discrimination and harassment issues are only figments of your imagination.

before i put you on ignore - do you care to back up your claims with some quotes of Yao's private comments? Or do you know Yao privately and have conversations with him?

I know what racism is - i'm a minority, but I also know that a lot of minorities cry wolf and make themselves a victim. And I don't tolerate that - it's beneath me, and it's beneath people like Yao. I hope it's beneath yourself.

Yao is the best center in the NBA now. Most so-called analysts (Kenny Smith, Barkley, Reggie Miller, Steve Kerr, and others) do not like him and do not want to see him do well.

Nevertheless, Yao needs to be more dominant. We all should agree that he needs to dunk(1st option) or get foul when he is around the basket.

Please, put me on ignore, I insist. I can tell you this, I can't furnish the private quotes from Yao, just as you can't furnish private quotes from Yao that suggest his public comments match his private sentiments.

As far as minorities making themselves victims and playing the race card--I am sure that happens. What I am simply saying is that racism still exists in all aspects of our society and sometimes they rear their ugly head in the form of public comments.

Picture this: If you had an Asian boss: Would you say hey "ching chong-yang-wah-soh" to your manager or to your manager's boss? Did not think so. Because you don't want to get fired for racist comments or mocking someone's culture. You act like I am insisting big foot is real

Now, please put me on ignore

I have Asian employees who work under me and I wouldn't do that. But I woudn't joke about race in an office environment because that's unprofessional...whether it's racist or not.

But you keep talking about Yao's private comments....what I don't get is first you say he is side-stepping it and he is not happy with Shaq's comments, but his public statements were saying he thinks Shaq was jocking but implying that it was insensitive of Shaq. Are you saying Yao is two-faced?

You keep saying you are not a racist while posting stuff like this from time to time. You are either a five-year-old using your dad's computer, or you are a hypocrite of the worse kind. Please stop polluting this great BBS with such junk.

Yes, Yao is better than Shaq will ever be again. Shaq is on the decline and there is nothing wrong with saying that. You must have not seen his eroding play for the past 2-3 seasons. His spring is gone. He is missing more games (body breaking down). He won't be the first great center to lose the battle with age.

There is no doubt that Shaq's presence still looms large (I have no clue why the Mavs gave him so much attention in the Finals last year), but he is not better than Yao is at the moment and I don't see him magically regaining his old quickness and athleticism.
