great stuff random amazing how people who can't grasp humour and sarcasm are the same people b**** who all they ever do is b**** about mistakes
Im sure he meant "the same b**** people who all they ever do is b**** about mistakes"... you gotta remember them Aussies phrase things a little different than we do....hey...at least he didnt call them gits or wankers...
Heh that explains it, i cant hate on SmellySmegma too much though, he hooked me up with some audio links before.
This thread has offended thousands of Sina.com reading YOF Sura bashers. Best hread of the week IMO. Brick hands leads to brick passes.
This type of sarcasm is completely disingenuous and fully merits the negative responses of those who believe in the "Yao doesn't pass to Sura" argument. The post implicitly devalues the argument. The sarcasm derives its humor from the inherent contempt of the inverse idea. If you believe that, fine. But don't mask your argument behind a thin veil of mediocre humor.
I think you meant to say, "Sura doesn't pass to Yao" argument. Neverthelesss, the point is that those that belive in the "Sura doesn't pass to Yao" are wrong in their asssement on the current situation....and will be proven wrong as the season progresses. YOF want their cake and to eat it too. Which means, they want exclusive passes to Yao at the expense of Sura, but also want the Rockets to win because of it. That's NOT going to happen. So, although our *humor (which is an attempt of sarcastic extremism)* might be disingenuous as a method of argument. The fact that the YOF's arguement is full of flaws will always be the determining factor on what's the best way to utilize Yao (at THIS TIME!). In the end, it's always going to be a team effort with an emphasis on TMac. Yao will be utlized most of the time, but not always... And if Sura (or whomever is the guy passing to Yao) misses a opportunity now and then -- because of the innate nature of how difficult it can be getting the ball to Yao when we play more physical teams -- then so be it! We will go elsewhere with our offense; Sura, Barry, Howard, Westley, etc... That's how players end up complementing each other. They each make up for each others weaknesses by combining their strengths.
I don't think Sura passes the ball to Yao because he is told not to by JVG. He is a point guard who hits guys in stride, not tall guys with their backs to the basket. Yao doesn't move without the ball much so the offense dictates that Sura avoid Yao. The entry pass is supposed to come from the rest of the team if I'm not mistaken. I think that Hakeem's passes generally came from the rest of the team and not Kenny Smith or Sam Cassell. I'm not sure about all these ideas, but the YOF's might be right, Sura never passes to Yao. However, this might be by design and someone should tell the YOF's so they don't post an aneurism. Yao not getting the ball from Sura is okay, it's all in the bigger plans. Also, I think the original post was in great humor. P.S. I don't want to be the one to tell the YOF's. I have a mangina so I'm afraid of these people. Any Tennessee fans want to help me?
(1) It does seem that alot of the time(not always) when the PG(Sura or whoever) brings the ball up, his first pass is more often to a wing player(SG or SF)...who then looks to pass into the post when the play calls for it. (2) no...they are wrong........I have posted numerous highlight videos from the games that are living proof.....and those dont even include the times when the pass goes to Yao and he passes out, or it results in a missed shot. (2a) we have tried to explain to them about the point I made in (1) about how the ball seems to flow in this offense, they just dont want to hear it...it would make them look dumb for harping on it so much when it simply isnt true...thats why they have switched to the "Sura hates Yao cause he wont high-five him" argument..
That's a solid argument. I'd stick with it. The high-five is a very important part of sports and it should never be withheld, just like Social Security tax.
No need to mock Chinese proverbs here. I'm sure we're gonna start hearing the "Confucius say" stuff pretty soon. Plenty of YOFs (I guess myself included since I was a Yao fan first) like Bob Sura. Yes - Sura should probably pass the ball more to him but it's not really a big deal. He also takes ill-advised shots sometimes too. But aggressive, hard-nosed players will do that (ever watch Jason Kidd?) . You take the good with bad. For Sura, the good far outweighs the bad. Sometimes it just takes a little time for new teammates to gain confidence in each other and gel. Sura bashers should also note that Yao doesn't seem to maintain good post position for very long. Getting the ball to him isn't as easy as it looks and has always been a problem - a problem that has spanned 2 coaches and 25+ players by now. Surely, not everyone (past or present) in the Rockets organization has a secret agenda against 7'6" Chinese players.
