Yao would get the ball more if he could get open in the post more. The Rockets plays for him suck and when he's fronted it is tough to get him the rock.

That's so funny. It didn't work in regular season for him. Phil Jackson asked the other players to pass him the ball and they shut him out. He is riding pine behind Kwame Brown. hahaha. If he was Shaq, it would be different. He needs another year or two, before he starts demanding the ball.

Bynum has no place to call for the ball like that and disrespect Sasha. This punk kid needs to respect his elders. Bynum didn't even have good position, he was calling for the ball way up top on the free throw line. Hes a good player but I lost all my respect for him after seeing that.

Was he in good position? He was almost at the FT line when he yelled for the ball.

i understand that the yao/tmac pick and roll is our best play. i dissagree that yao should have to set picks the whole freakin game. in other words, i agree with you.

let whoever is playing the 4 set the picks. keep yao down low. JVG would probably save a lot of his energy by keeping yao from setting any picks until the 4th wtr.

about yao taking over for a qtr and then getting out of ppl's way:

i feel like that's the next step. he just becam dominant this year. next year (or later on this season) i'd like to see him reach the next level by dominating for not just one qtr and having a good game tyhe rest of the way, but dominate 2 or 3 qtrs.

it's hard for a big guy to dominate the whole game when playing against a zone. the defense can just pack it in against him. that's when tmac and the shooters go nuts.

Two or three years ago they are not at same level. Kobe has 3 rings. On talent, do you see the game he scored 82 pts?
Kobe concentrates on his career and way better than anyone in NBA in his postion.

Even if Yao would use the bad words some times, he might say them in Chinese.
No matter how good you learn the foreign language, the native language is always the most powerful way to release the anger.

While watching the laskers game last night, I was thinking about the same thing. How can Yao be as great as Kobe if he is shooting so little? How can he shoot more if he doesn't demand the ball more? He is the center of focus! Damn it!

Lock this thread! Yao doesn't need to cuss out his teammates to get the ball! He simply needs to play correctly, get in position, and have one of his teammates spot him for the pass.

Love Yao, but he is way too passive sometimes. Why are all of you upset with this thread? I think Bynum DEMANDING the ball shows he has some selfishness and aggressiveness that is missing from Yao at times...Not that I agree with Bynum showing up one of his teammates, but at least he vocalizes his displeasure of not getting the ball, which is something Yao clearly needs to learn how to do. And please, don't give me the old "Yao doesn't speak English" nonsense---I've seen plenty of his interviews and he speaks the language pretty darn well for a guy who hasn't been in this country that long.

I'm just confused why we're complaining about the Player of the Month who's averaging 20/10 easily every night. Who care's if it's not a 'dominating' 20/10. 20/10 still draws double teams and opens up the floor for everyone else.

bynum's angry outburst will be ineffective and maybe even couterproductive. instead of being angry and excited like bynum, yao needs to project calm assertiveness to his teammates, letting them know that he is the dominant alpha pack leader. calm, assertive, dominant state of mind is the key. he cannot be all buddy buddy with his teammates, deferring to them, smiling and such all the time. he should only show his teammates affection after they have done what he wants. it's all about rules, boundaries and limitations. that, along with implementing a steady regimen of exercise, discipline, and affection, will get yao 20+ fg attempts per game. tsst!

    Agreed!
Personality is hard to change, or mostly never changes. I, for one, am sick of seeing all the dunks on Yao shown all the time on ESPN. I'd love to see Yao with sharper elbow, throwing down small guards who even try to go near him. Who cares if he gets a few flagrant fouls, but it will teach the midgets some respect.

But, unfortunately that will never happen. Yao will be who he is, nice, calm, charming, very skillful, but he will continue getting into highlights films being dunked on by midgets.

    O well. Life ain't perfect ... :(

exactly, Yao is mentally SOFT, that is why he is not to-go guy and barely made big shot at clutch time. he led Rox is more like a ladies' team, which could not win in clutch time for clutch city's team. :D

Obviously you don't know Yao. He is nice and all, but in no way he's mentally soft. He's been there and done that in CBA, led an average Shanghai team beat then top team filled with so mange great players. He also led CNT to top 8 by winning the critical game in Olympics. If you watched his documentary film, you'll realize how tough his mind really is. He is just a typical live example of Chinese philosophy: tough inside, soft outside.
