Let's not flame this guy too hard. His comments on Yao are just plain dumb, but KG is the most well-rounded player in the NBA besides T-Mac. I would take him for Yao straight up but he makes too much money to be on the same team as T-Mac. Yao will get better; he just not improving fast enough for some of us. Yao has a bright future and we are fortunate it will be as a Rocket.
Not nearly enough...He should be banned the ENTIRE off season, until the first game the Rockets play next season. He should be denied the pleasure of posting during this unprecedented off season the Rockets are about to have (I have never been as excited about the off season, almost as excited about the actual season. Oh the possibilities!)
If you can't see marked improvement in Yao's game this year, then you are blind. 55% shooting for the year? Over 2 blocks for the first time? He is a player who will improve a little every year, like Phil Jackson said. I think the next big step for him is getting more respect and staying on the floor. Yao knows what he needs to do, and that's improve on his quickness.
just remember that KG first 3 years number are similar to Yao, give this guy some more time, if next year, Yao number are still the same as this year, then you can argue, but Yao will improve..just slowly, like he said .. with that being said ..eventually, you will love Yaoooooo
JVG has proven that he is the right coach and gets respect from his players and Yao will get better and better. Einstein, If you think those 2 are this teams biggest problem, perhaps you need to go.
I would like to take time out from this thread and thank Clutch for instituting the new ZERO stars rating - it just seems to fit times like this thanks Clutch !
Yao is still improving, you can't expect him to put up KG numbers in only his 3rd year in the league. Coaching or whatever won't expedite his improvement, regardless of how impatient you are for him to achieve it. Earlier you said 'where is olajuwon'? Are you kidding? Hakeem has made is clear that he wants nothing to do with the NBA anymore, he's done. It's like you're just reaching for the quickest knee jerk responses you can think of b/c you're pissed about the loss and Yao is the target of choice for today. Chill out.
Yao is not Hakeem Yao is not KG Yao is Yao and Yao is one of the best players in the NBA. He's already surpassed people's expectations and has continued to improve. In the playoffs Yao averaged: 21 Points, 8 Rebounds, 3 Blocks, 66% Field Goal Percentage all while playing only 31 minutes a game and you have the nerve to complain. You are seriously an ahole einstein. Nothing constructive came from your post. It was 100% negative. Could he have played better? Possibly, but he makes mistakes like everyone else in the league and he was playing hard. KG, Tmac, maybe not Hakeem, etc. have all made mistakes. Regardless he played great in the first round of the playoffs and I was proud to see him improve his game this year.
guys..you know your not supposed to feed the fire! this is going to be a long offseason..just don't feed the trolls rate and leave it be
First off, you're a disgrace to asians everywhere. There's nothing worst than an ignorant basketball fan going off on the only successful Asian player in the NBA. Secondly, Yao is most dominant when he uses those power moves like he did on Nowitzki in game 5 when he drop-stepped and forced it down Nowitzki's throat. Do you really want a 7'6" guy shooting jumpers?! Thats the biggest waste of talent: its like using Tracy McGrady solely for his alley-oops or dunks. They're great every once in a while mixed in with his overall game, but they should not be the staple of his offense. Everyone's scared he'll become the next Rik Smits, and you're advocating just that. Ignorant ignorant ignorant.
Yao has been improving each of the 3 years he's been here. He still has inconsistent times..but Duncan does too! Duncan has times where he can't f'in make a basket..especially against the Rockets (Yao) . Yao just needs to learn find ways to contribute even when he's struggling in some areas. He is gradually improving his stamina. He is getting tougheter..mor aggressive..he is learning waht to do..he and Tmac are going to be here hopefully for all of their prime and maybe for the rest of their careers. I've been very glad that Mutombo has been such a positive impact on Yao and serioulsy great teacher. Patrick Ewing same thing. Yao sitll can shoot..he's got the fundamentals. He's going to start getting some damn calls from the refs now. And nooce we get a few good power forwards with him..Juwan Howard back..Malick Badiane in..maybe Shareef or Chandler or Marshall..or Chris Wilcox..he will play well. Shaq has Haslem. TD had David Robinson and Nesterovic and Mohammad and Horry..all great complementary players. BTW..Yao generates tons of revenues for the Rockets. We are going to do whatever is possible to keep him. He's 7-6..he can score on anyone in the NBA. He's ineffective if you put him on Boykins or Darrell Armstrong though
