Someone has to flash and slash. I can live with Shane at one wing but not Shane and Ron, we need guys who can take advantage of all that attention Yao is getting.

It is why I like Wafer so much he attacks the basket, if we are building around Yao, an d we should, get mor players that attack and can create we need two penetrating threat on the floor at all times.

Dude knows what he is talking about. Rep up.

Here are the numbers in detail.

    Code:
    TS% in 2006-07
    	reg	1st	PO
    Yao	0.601	0.557	0.557
    Boozer	0.588	0.535	0.576
    Okur	0.571	0.447	0.496
You can see all three dropped their true shooting percentages in that grueling first round match-up as opposed to the regular season. Okur suffered the most while Yao did the least. Boozer was similar to Yao (Boozer's absolute and relative decreases in TS% were actually both slightly worse than Yao's). Both Boozer and Okur picked up their TS% after the Rockets series in the playoffs.

Utah tried their best to neutralize Yao with a combination of Boozer and Okur. Yao's shooting efficiency was clearly affected but the cost was actually greater to these two Jazz players. The conclusion that Yao was shut down (or "schooled"/"owned" if you YOHs will) was far from the truth.

Leebigez, I respect your bball knowledge and you usually are very insightful.

but when it comes to Yao, you can sense the hatred comin from you. It may be subtle... but its there.

I am a rox fan, not a overrated Yao Ming fan. He gave us 7 years of soft plays and the last 2 years of disappointment. Rox need to move on and find someone more consistent.

You must be another Chinese because you can't see Yao for what he really is. A 7'6 shooting guard.

Open your eyes. After 5 years of following Yao, I finally did.

Wow, that's a good finding. It also shows why Howard is not there yet compared with Yao.

Teams like Jazz would foul you like there's no tomorrow if they cannot really stop you. Imagine if Howard was in that series and IF he's effective on the offense end, the Jazz would let him shoot like 5- times and send him to the FT lines 15+ times. That could be really ugly for Howard.

Who on your list are more consistent and can take Rockets further and even bring Rockets a champion?

what reason does he have to "hate" yao? leeb has admitted yao does have his strengths, which can be dominating. but he also has weaknesses that can neutralize his strength at times. and that is the truth.

arguing yao or howard on who's better is really pointless b/c they both do what their teams need them to do.

if yao was on the magic, they wouldn't be as good as they are.
if howard was on our team, we won't be as good as we are.

both can be argued to be the best center. i've stated my opinion but this has gone on too long.

ultimately, yao does some things that are better than howard. and howard does some things that are better than yao.

None of yao's skills matter if he gets hurt. Dwight is a much better defender and rebounder than yao.

Who is their right mind would take a player who only has a 50/50 chance of playing. It is probably going to get worse as yao ages.

Tell you what you do...get every general manager that has ever managed, as well as coach, player, etc...

Have Okur guard Yao and see how many of them bet on Okur to stop him. The answer to save time is COMPLETELY FREAKING ZERO.

Has he EVER stopped Yao? Yeah...so?

I never said anything about Yao's D...for all the Utah lovers out there, good lord...those guys dropped down all the time on Yao. Shaq has guarded Yao WELL in the past but he can NOT guard Yao now one on one...Duncan gets KILLED by Yao...and Dwight Howard is LOST when is guards Yao.

If Yao had the 'TOUGH' MEAN mentality that so many of you crave then maybe he'd be selfish enough to 'GETS HIS' but he don't 'GETS HIS' he plays that thing called team game.

Stop b****ing about him being a leader because he ain't tatted up yelling at everybody on the court...he's the 1st one in and the last to leave every practice. He leads by doing EXACTLY what a professional should do and no matter how much we pay Yao, it will money well spent that EVERY GM in the league would pay over...and over....and over....

You need one basket and you drop the ball down to Yao - there is NO PLAYER ON THE PLANET that can stop him from shooting that ball...and as the numbers indicate, he WILL make most of those shots and he will make 90% of his FT's if they do foul him.

after watching the finals, i think howard watching yao is more fitting.

howard's game on offense is so one dimensional.

amen Doc great stuff, completely agree, plus he is pretty consitent on the offensive end (unlike Dwight), can create his OWN shot from anywhere in the paint and is very aware of his own limitations

Nearly every player get worst with age. Dwight has the luxury of having a good young body but other then that and athleticism what does he bring that is special?

His vaunted defense never stops any of the bigger centers such as Gasol or Yao from dominating him. His offense as it is now is actually one of the poorest of the top centers in the NBA as well.

You can bring up the Yao's injury issue as to why he isn't as good as Dwight but really, Yao has played competitive basketball for most of his years in the NBA. Which means on the court performance favors Yao over Howard, even when he has little to no rest during the off season. Yao is a consistent offensive weapon with the ball in his hands and while not all encompassing his 7' 6" frame is still more then a solid defensive deterrent at the center position.

For all Howard brings to his team, a healthy Yao is still probably going to win you more games.

The bolded part is the reason why DH is better than Yao Ming. A healthy Yao is as rare as a healthy T-mac...

Dwight had 3 ten point games in the Finals.

Why should Yao be watching that?

yao has scored zero points in the finals.....

i dont think it is possible for yao to make it for an entire season + playoffs without having a major injury.

i'd take howard over him no question.
