What I'm saying is refs protects certain players. Howard is one of them, Yao on the other hand, is only a half of them. They called less fouls on Yao when he's defedning, but they don't give him calls on the other hand. Howard gets calls on both ends most of the time. So 7'6 is Yao's fault for not getting calls again. And you already admits Yao is reffed worse than Howard by saying that.
And I still remember in one game, Yao got thrown to the ground by Howard, foul on Yao, Howard ran into a standstill Yao, foul on Yao again. Two of the most ridiculous call against Yao. On the other hand, all Howard's foul again Yao were legit, he simply fouled a lot. Most player don't get calls just by being aggressive, that includes Yao. but Howard does.
YOU'RE COMPLETELY RIGHT. we all love if the refs call a foul when there is one and don't care who the player is or are they a superstar or not? but that's not how it works. refs DO give certain players a preference b/c for the most part, they EARN those perceptions. b/c yao flops/takes charges. deke even publicly stated that. that is NOT going to help your perception of an aggressive player. howard throws elbows at least 2-3 times EVERY game at players. there's a reason lebron james gets to the line THE most and gets A TON of calls. why? he's the league's most aggresive player. compare him v. kobe playing orlando. lebron drives to the rack EVERY PLAY. and that's why he averaged 15 ft attempts in that series. kobe settles for teh J and thus only gets 9-10.
Yao only took less than 10 charges in his entire career, I think. And Yao DOESN'T flop. Refs protects certain players to different degree. Lebron is the king of protection. He drives to the hoop but gets so many touch fouls other players don't get even if they drive. When speaking big man, Howard is protected more than Yao, playing aggressive or not. That's just a fact.
If you are objective, you should know the apparent truth How Yao and DH are treated differently by the Refs. The Ref's calls set the tune for how aggressive you can be in the game. If Yao plays the same way as DH, he will be fouled out in two quarters.
Howard is a perfect fit for the Magic. They don't need his offense anyway as they have several big gunners and Turkoglu as the playmaker and clutch player. I miss old Tracy!
The Magic only have themselves to blame if they lose this game. The referees have done the best to help them win...
Well, I might have to eat my own words. In the end, they do need some offense from their big man who unfortunately is unable to provide it.
I don't know about the refs. That was a Kobe elbow to the jaw in plain sight that decked Nelson which left Fisher wide open for that three. Not only that, every time Howard is fouled they're never going for the ball. If they did the same thing to Kobe there be intentionals and flagrants called over and over again.
Howard missed clutch free throws as well as hedo, but I can't for the life of me understand why u don't foul when ur team is up by 3 with under 10 secs left and turn it into a free throw shooting contest.
And if you're not going to foul, why do you play BEHIND the three point line when you know they're going to shoot a three. That was a rookie play by Nelson, just terrible.
I disagree. How many times do you see Kobe drive the lane, a lot of body contracts, and no calls? At the about 5 min mark in the 4th quarter, the Lakers were already in the penalty while the Magic had not a single team foul. Both teams were aggressive and the calls clearly favored the home team.
Rarely do I see Kobe drive the lane and initiate contact and not get the call for doing it. That's what he does. Just like the call the other night late in the game where Kobe drove on Howard, Howard stuffed the ball for a jump ball call, and Joey Crawford called a foul on Howard from half court.
