I think Chen's first famous movie was shot in 1979, before Yao was born. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FeAT5CRCjy0"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FeAT5CRCjy0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> It was my favorite movie 27 years ago.
Is that like a column of soldiers going to Vietnam in 1979 to kick some tail? Guess those North Vietnamese didn't exactly go along with China back then so China had to go in and open a can of whooparse! lol
I can't believe there is a YouTube clip for that movie. I thought about to post this Chen Chong's first movie the other day, but just thought that nobody cares. 28 years passed just like that, man! Do you remember her very next movie 海外赤子(loyality)? Thanks Pryeun for bringing back the memories.
The worst part is that most of us are probably that guy's height..the lil guy I mean, But Yao is becoming a man among men and its awesome to watch each year.
Even so, that guy looks like hes 3'10 or something. Most of us would be two-thirds to the rim, not one-third.
Pryuen, Do you know if any other Rocket or other NBA guys are traveling with Yao right now? I'm in Shanghai at the moment, and my guide is insisting that a player has come along with Yao to the city (not Shane Battier). He doesn't know the name, only some odd Chinese nickname which I need him to write down for me, and I don't know if he's correct or not (he is a local, however). Any clue? Yao's restaurant here made for a fun dinner! Shanghai has blown my head off. It seriously makes Houston look like a farm town. Evan
Seeing all these pictures really makes me appreciate Yao even more. He's a great player but an even better human. The Chinese connection is awesome.
Hey dude! A little history lesson for you, you were right in saying a can of whoop ass was opened back in 1979 with that brief Sino-Vietnam border skirmish, but it was the Vietnamese commie bastards who laid a can of whoop ass to the Chinese commie bastards! You're welcome! by Michael Sullivan Owen Franken, CorbisVietnam's Temple of Literature in Hanoi, built by a Vietnamese emperor to honor the Chinese philosopher Confucius, is an example of the blending of Chinese and Vietnamese cultures. Map of China and Its Neighbors NPR News/CIAChina and Vietnam have spent much of their history fighting each other. But in modern times, the two are increasingly bound by culture and economics. All Things Considered, February 17, 2004 · Twenty-five years ago this week, China invaded Vietnam. The invasion came after months of tension between the two communist neighbors. The Chinese attack was prompted by Vietnam's decision to invade Cambodia and remove the Chinese-backed Khmer Rouge. The 1979 border war between China and Vietnam was over quickly, with the Chinese retreating after heavy losses. But as NPR's Michael Sullivan reports in the second part of a series examining how China is viewed by its neighbors, relations between the two countries have improved significantly since then. The two countries are bound by culture -- and increasingly by economics. Trade is growing rapidly and Vietnam has become a popular vacation spot for Chinese tourists. And the Vietnamese Communist Party looks to the Chinese Communist Party as a model for opening up its economy while maintaining tight control over politics. Damn I hate those commie bastards!
Uhhh no...if China wanted to they would have completely collapsed the North Vietnam regime. Yeah they had heavy losses but so what? China doesn't view heavy losses like we do? They have 1.2 billion people. May I remind you that in North Korea, China came rushing at UN lines one soldier at a time like ants and were mowed down by machine gun fire but they kept coming. China's strategy was to slap Vietnam and then pull back.
Well, if you are an American, in this case, you would not hate China if you knew a little more of the history. That war, is very similiar to usa-Iraq war in many aspects, except it was short, it was over and the invader won. it is not a coincidence that the 16-day border war happened on Feb 17, 1979, right after Deng Xiaoping's 2-week USA visit. USA liked China more after "those commies" invaded another country and killed 100k vietnamese over there. Chinese army retreated because they could not find 'oil' there, not because the losses of 30k lifes. Chairman Mao was right: Deng is an ultimate captilist. Captialism is actually becoming worse than communism in China. a one-year old 'commie' living in the captilists' world in 21st century. Don't hate her. Back to the topic, Yao should donate his money to me and I will give the money to the real people in China...
Luther Head has left and gone back to US, last time I heard/read. Not sure about Carroll Dawson coming to China. But read that Anthony Falsone is going to arrive at Shanghai around the next few days to assist Big Yao in his training.
