It seems your nick fits you well.... You need to chill.

I have always been selective in picking informative articles to translate.

And IMHO, I don't think this article from Wang Meng is a bad or nonsensical one; at least it provided us other perspectives that we were not aware of:

    • The limit of play minutes and optimal weight JVG set for Yao Ming
    • That Yao Ming had been losing weight and is now below 300 pounds
    • That his recent drop in from and condition, his turnovers, his foul problems on the court and even his flu can all be attributable to his physical strength reserve being overdraft, and that he is becoming weaker physically, and therefore more vulnerable to flu virus infection.

I dont know man but to blame all those probelms because of Yao's increased minutes is like Tmac trying to blame his bad shooting on depth perception. If he is really having a hard time playing that many minutes he has to let the coach know. Maybe he can become a super sub since we want him to be fresher during the 4th quarter.

I guess I could use a pc answer, but I can't do it. No matter what anyone else will say, after the olympics yao should retire from international ball. The rox are paying max money. He needs his rest so he can be the best for the rox.

I understand being loyal to ur country, but when the nba calls u and pays u max, then ur obligations change. Duncan has played almost 100 games per yr since coming into the league. Its a reason why guys in the nba don't play in the summers.

I know people will try to small talk the situation and blame the coach. I just think its up to yao to get the proper rest and conditiong to endure the long nba season. I started a thread saying u can't build around yao. My reasing was because his body is like a 31 yr old.

I'm not saying he should pull a wang zhi zhi, but the yao will never reach his potential with the offseason activities.

Shaq and Hakeem had to play 40 minutes. It comes with the playoff championships.

Coincidentally. There is another chinese article that quotes Yao as saying "Rest is never sufficient. Rest more and people will tend to become lazy !" He was given permission to rest at home, but decided to come to practice while battling the flu.

Nah, DD was talking about every player in NBA, so I gave him the AI example.

But Yao's minutes actually is not that much. Yao is only averaging 37.2 mins. Shaq at his prime played 40 minutes. A starter in NBA is expected to play 36-40 minutes. What's new. I feel quite surprised Yao says he's so exhausted.

Stick with chicken, steak, fish oil, multi vitamin pills and proteins, add one extra meal a day if the weight keeps dropping. It's tough to diet on the road though, but Rockets should have a conditioning coach to take care this sort of things.

Some of you guys have 0 empathy; like you've played an 82 game season and worked out with weights in the gym your entire lives. I'm certainly sure that isn't the case.

If you've ever worked out and then dropped 15 pounds of muscle due to bad diet/lax training then you know how massively strength can be affected. Throw in the fact that these guys aren't losing muscle due to bad diet/training, but overtraining/overwork then you might understand how exhausted they really get.

So some of these calls of "man the f**k up" are seriously absurd. A good team has a good bench, and gives their starters enough gas to do it in the playoffs. I don't think some of you have ever played competitive sport and felt what it's like to actually burn out.

Besides, doesn't sound like Yao is really complaining, like someone else pointed; sounds more like the writer is complaining.

Apparently Shaq and Hakeem never listened to this advice. They averaged 40 minutes to get their first championships, while other centers were playing 32 minutes.

I don't know if this article is true or not. If true, then Yao is a chicken ****. He should have talked to RA about limiting his minute. Physical limitation is a fact of life, and it is the coach AND the player's responsibility to manage it.

Look at Nash. He has his regime of resting for x min in the 2nd quarter and then at the end of 3rd to the beginning of 4th (my wife knows the exact timing as she is a big Suns' fan). It is almost always the same, no matter what the score. That way the Suns keep Nash fresh for ending the game, and fresh enough through the end of the season.

Yao will never take himself out of the game willingly. He'll play hurt, sick, whatever. Broken bones, bad toes etc. That's why the Rockets staff has to watch him like a hawk and take him out when he's not well. You cannot depend on Yao to tell anyone he's hurting cause he'll never admit it.

this isn't grade school with adelman the teacher and yao the student. It's the nba and you have to communicate with the coach about your condition and not expose everything to the media. It's great that the chinese media isn't interconnected with the U.S media because it would be pretty embarassing to see yao's condition in national news. Yao loves to whine to his reporter but doesnt realise that wang meng is exploiting him for news.

All I know is during ramadan in which a muslim can't intake anything from dawn to dusk. That means during an entire month of february Hakeem couldn't even drink water.
All the long time rox fans remember Hakeem exhausted during those day games on sunday in which he couldn't drink water or gatorade while battling. I'm not saying yao is a weenie, but we've witness a fatigued guy battle through it. I really don't have sympathy. Either ur going to play, or not, but don't whine to a reporter.

everything else aside, your 7'6 300lbs center leading in minutes per game just doesn't sound right. i said this earlier in the season in fran's blog and he sorta agreed.

We all know RA is not as good as JVG.

But the management is going to mask it and hope that Rox can get into the first round and out, and will claim Rox is making progress. They will say, "well, Rox has changed systems, that's why it started slowly, it STILL got into the playoff though, so everything is good" and some of the fans will buy into this and defend the management, blah blah, everybody is happy, and there is always next year.

The sky is falling....more BS whining. and excuses.

MJ was at his best when sick.

As far as Yao or the reporter, either way we have a history of great centers and certainly didn't hear this crap coming out of their mouths.(unless there were contract negotiations happening  )For CRYING OUT LOUD Dream played through Ramadan.I'm giving Yao the benefit of the doubt because of the kind of man he is,but these kind of articles are an embarrassment to him and the BBS.Games against the Jazz he needs to be out there.I have no doubt that this is a result of the demands placed on him with his schedule. So C'mon!Enough already!Play ball and shut up..This isn't soccer.

Again an example of the clutter that the GARM is inundated with these days and the melodramatic takes/excuses from certain reporters.
