In hindsight, I can understand why my statements like this one offend people. If I could delete this msg, I would, but I can't. I'll probably get banned soon. bye.
This season Yao has started in all his games and IIRC whenever he's on the court, a bulk of the offensive sets revolved around the big man. It seemed clear that Adelman was trying to make the most of Yao's minutes on the court. Just before Yao got injured again, Adelman adjusted the entire rotation so that he could have Yao get some of his minutes at the end of games. Given the restrictions on Yao's minutes distribution (not playing him more than 12 minutes per half, not having him sit for too long, etc.), this didn't look easy to accomplish, but Adelman did it. I just don't see where you get this idea that Adelman is intent on diminishing Yao's role. From what I've seen, the opposite has been true.
I understand that rebuilding sounds like a good option. The question is: rebuilding around what? The Rockets ain't going to get the No.1 pick, not even a top 5 pick. And even if DM pulls the magic and get one top 5 pick, what's the chance of a top five pick next season (not to mention the effect of a very likely NBA lockout on the draft next season) turning into a superstar that a team can rebuild around? Trade? What's the chance of a superstar coming to Houston through a trade? Also, don't forget an important reason T-Mac came here is because of a great center in that team, namely Yao. What will you have next season to attract an established superstar? Yeah, Yao is injury-prone and really frustrating to many people, including me. But maybe there is a 10% chance he will be healthy and become the 'Yao' again. And do your math, what's the chance of getting a superstar(or -to-be) next year. If you think that's greater than Yao getting back, then dump him. Otherwise, keep him. Simple as that. Just don't say dump him because I am frustrated with him.
Please don't compare Yao and Artest. Artest was a one year journeyman with the Rockets and Yao has been playing for the Rockets, his only NBA team for 8 years, had amazing seasons containing tons of excitement and entertainment. His not the kind of guy who "made his money and now wants a ring". What kind of player would do this, except LeBron?
BTW, he's only 30 years old. When he came into the league people did not believe him and it resulted in Barkley kissing an ass. Now, I can see Yao Ming coming back from his injuries like Big Z, but even more dominant. He's been injured a lot these years back, but he only missed 3 games in his first 3 years, I guess these recent years were just unlucky. Yao is not like T-Mac. Yao has the mentality and the work ethic to come back and dominate again.
It's actually pretty easy for the Rockets to go into tank mode, given how much of their veteran contracts are up this year. Miller and Scola can both easily be traded contender next year. The Rockets then can go into full tank mode for another year or two, coupled with perhaps some good luck with the NY pick, and we'd be back in business again.
Morey has to make the call. Do we continue with an injury plagued Yao? Or do we do the RIGHT thing, and start over. There's no logical reason to continue this team with Yao Ming as their main guy. He's unreliable because of his left foot problems. It's far better to trade him this season for some assets, and rebuild. The future of the Houston Rockets is no longer a guy named Yao Ming. It's someone else. Maybe Brooks. Maybe they will sign Landry back. Morey, trade Yao and do what's right for the Houston organization!
You have made it very clear, multiple times, there is no "we" for you here. No need to pretend any more. Just move on and stop posting.
I feel the same way, it just sucks that all signs are pointing toward him not wearing Rockets red when he is finally back at 100%.
I hope to see Yao sign with a Championship team next year and stay away from the Rockets' curse of injury.
Rick Adelman's system is centered around big men with outside shooting and passing ability. If you think that Yao is a bad shooter/passer, then you are the one who is clueless.
By "we" do you mean "**** houston **** morey and **** adleman, I hate houston fans, they do no goood to yao, I want yao in lakers" please stop polluting this Rockets forum
The thing is that the Rockets can continue with Yao as just a Role player, signing him doesn't make him the MAIN guy..... And right now, he is not capable of being that guy, he can be a defensive stalwart and an offensively efficient role player. What is wrong with that? DD
