Just like I told Franz Kaftka...I never said "new system" per se, certainly not right away. I'm having trouble communicating that the UCLA Cut is not necessarily a system anymore than the PnR is. It is the foundation of a system. You can run the PnR without running a Utah PnR system. I expect Rudy to give Ming plays immediately, just like he did with Francis. I do not expect them to use the Hakeem style of Dump it In, right away, if ever. So, what plays would they give Ming?? I expect Ming's plays to come from the high post. I do not expect them to just be PnRs like the PFs or wing ISOs. I have seen Rudy run variations of a UCLA Cut play in every preseason since getting Francis. It is already in the playbook. You can inject a singular play without making a bona fide "new system." The UCLA Cut is a system as well as simply various singular plays, if not as simple as a type of cut. Don't think it is so difficult. It isn't. Every team in the league has it in their playbook. It is so simple and expected of High Post players that Colangelo ran Ming through it with the guard in the Chicago try out. You learn it very early in life. It is as simple to execute as a pick n roll, and as powerful when executed perfectly to warrant building an entire system around it over time, ala Sloan/Stockton/Malone. You will see it in preseason. It will become a bread n butter play if Ming indeed brings passing to the NBA like Rudy and CD suggest.
Doesn't matter "how". They need to stop. Start a new thread and just link to this one next time. Otherwise we'll have threads with subjects saying "We've made a trade!!!" when the trade was months ago and somebody brought it back up just to say "I don't think this was a good trade".
