Yao Ming will promise stick to NT duty in public statement today

    Here's a problem....

    We are in the USA!!! We (the Rox) can't force somebody (Ming) to be anywhere!!!! That being the case how the hell can we guarantee that he won't go Wang on them and skip out on national team practices?

    Does someone know definitively which international competitions they will want him to play, how frequent each of these is, and what time of the year each is? Olympics and World Championships should be OK, as I'm pretty sure these don't conflict with training camp. Sounds like Asian Games are held once every four years in October. What about the Asian Championships?

    If sticking to national team duty means missing training camp once every four years, and never missing regular season or playoff games, this doesn't seem like a big deal. It would be nice to get Ming into the summer leagues though.

    Last year Wang Zhizhi had to miss 15 Mavs games due to national team commitments. It doesn't matter since we've already pulled the trigger on the pick.
