This still doesn't mean we won't be getting about 5 threads a day come February about "Will Yao return after the All-Star Break?".
Too hard to win in the NBA. Chances are higher just sticking with him and waiting for the pieces to fall. Eventually.
If thats the case then the team should not allow McGrady back from his injury. Why should he be able to prove himself in a contract year and get millions of dollars the following year. If we are all about winning a championship then we the team should play the young guys and see how they face adversity and come together as a unit. Bring on 2010 free agency!

I might as well stick this question in here. Any indication yet if Yao is going to opt out of his contract?
He will be playing at a lower pace and with less effectiveness/less aggressiveness when or IF he gets back. He was never a superstar player and now, for sure, he will never even be as good as he once was. The sooner we bail on this Yao/McGrady sunken ship the better. Lets just cut our losses and move on without both after this season, or whenever Yao's contract is up.
I don't see why. He's not going to get paid more anywhere else, especially coming off this kind of surgery and layoff.
Good move, Yao. He may still have a long career. He will always be 7'6" and have good skills. Guys like Bill Walton and Grant Hill and others would have been wise to have taken more time off when younger to heal. Good move, Yao.
i love 8oo8s! and i guess this answers all the questions about whether he will play or not. better that the team knows this heading into the season. though... if we made a playoff run, i wonder if he would reconsider?
