Here's the link. Just plain sad, But it is still the best game out in my opinion. http://www.sgn.cc/basketball/nba_live_2003/preview.shtml How updated are the rosters? I have been told the cut off date for rosters was August 31. In addition Yao Ming is not in the game due to legal and licensing reasons. I tried to create him to see if the announcers would announce his last name, but looks like they don't. Also, the create a player feature only lets you create guys up to 265 lbs.
DAmn it! On draft night, they showed Yao Ming (NBA live) pitted against Shaq. Damn chinese officials! Why can't he just sign already!
You didn't read the part at the top. You can put them all the way up to 350, but you have to change the body type. Also, I've heard rumors that they may just have "Rockets Center" who looks just like Ming, and has his stats. You can change it later, if you feel like it. Just a rumor I heard. btw, I think NBA2k3 will be better, but I'll rent both and give them a try.
You simply can't have any player in the game who hasn't signed an NBA contract by the cutoff date, even if it is a likeness without a name and true number....violates the NBA licensing rules. For the same reasons, Rashard Lewis may not be in the game either. All NBA games will suffer from this, to tell the truth, so it's nothing EA did wrong. You'll just have to make them yourself or wait for a patch.
Didn't they have Jordan in the earlier games? I think that should show that they can do the same here. But I don't know the agreement, so there may be something new.
If u get NBA Live for the computer, you can goto nbalive.net and download a patch that will fix the rosters. Its what I do with my old version of the game.
Thats two years in a row they jipped our roster. Last year no Griffin, torres, tierre brown or kevin willis.
thats why you don't buy nba live cause EA has it's turned it into crap... nba 2k3 is the way to go my friends...
Dude, Live and 2K are both terrible. You should try NBA Shootout 2003. It kicks butt. (BTW, I was joking. So far, I'm for 2K3 as well.) I also think I was a bit off on what I said Yao may be. Instead of "Rockets Center" its probably "Roster Center." They could always do little things so that it would be easier to make him. In Smackdown 3, a wrestling game, they would have the moves of an unsigned wrestler as a set so that you could put them there yourself. BTW, I don't think you shouldn't get it JUST because it doesn't have Ming. Just create him. I created him on Live 2002. I'm sure there will be some ratings online so that you can copy them.
<img src="http://www.sgn.cc/basketball/nba_live_2003/pc/1.jpg"> Rocket guard dribbles between his legs. Isn't looking anywhere. Ignores pick. EA gets an A+ for realism.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but unless NBA 2k3 doesn't come out until, oh, 2003, it will suffer from the same roster problems as NBA Live 2003. It's not EA's fault - it's the player's fault for not signing a contract and thus being eligible to be in the game. With the popularity and accesibility of patches and updates for the Live series outweighing the 2k series, it will be easier to have the players added to the game once the first patches are made.
I'm 99% sure that with XBOX and PS2, with the online capabilities, you'll be able to download updated rosters, like you can for the PC. Anyway, NBA2k3 is prob much better, if the last 3 years mean anything.
what are you talking about mfclark? i was talking about the games on consoles not PC. Yea you'll be able to download roster updates on consoles too. but the major point is nba live sucks.
lmao yeah they are running iso's in the game. looks like Sf is not gonna pass the ball. whats up with 2k3 will the have ming?
I don't know about that, either. I usually try going to some NBA2K3 message boards to see what the latest is. When I click on a "Will Yao Ming be in the game" thread, 90% is talk about whether not Yao could stop Shaq and how much more weight he needs. I really don't know any of this. BTW, if you didn't know, Madden NFL 2003 had unsigned rookies. I don't know the license agreement between them, but maybe it will be the same in the basketball games.
