why not? the guy is a freak. he's 7', has long arms, is built and will only get, ummm, builter. amare isn't known for his amazing shot or finesse moves and he's dominating. howard's just 2 inches taller with longer arms and he already knows how to block shots and clean the glass better. the guy just swallows rebounds.

maybe he won't be, but i don't see how you get that from watching him play now. how much better and physcially gifted can he be at 19? and what about yao says he'll ever make top 5? he can't rebound or block shots right now. and SJC, while yao was mostly responsible for the anti-SF stuff, saying he will fall behind lebron (already has) and howard isn't a diss. those guys are just that much more physically gifted (read: mobile and athletic) than yao and that's one of those things yao will probably never change.

that's lebron, and for my money it isn't even close. it's still shocking how quickly he became this good.

Gosh people. You really believe that Dwight Howard is a better player than Yao Ming right now.

Dwight's got a ton of potentials, but he's no more than a glorified role player at this point of his career.

It could change in three years, but right now this poll really shouldn't be close.

well tecnically this isn't really a poll since it asked who we'd rather have now or later.

    i vote for later.

I was at the Magic v Spurs game last night. Howard is simply lost on the court. Duncan abused him on both ends. He does have some nice post moves and plays hard. He has problems finishing and with fouls. Give him a few years and he will be a monster.

This was the last game of a 6 game road trip and they played the Lakers and Suns before this. Howard was tired like any 19 year rookie should be. Plus, he was matched up against the best player in the league. However, he still got almost as much rebounds as Yao and Amare averages during a season.
