Yao Ming to be China's flag bearer at the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics

    It would have been cool to see Yao be the torch lighter and run around the stadium in the air like that. :cool:

    I'm very proud of him as well. I love the Olympics and we're lucky to have Yao represent not only China, but the Houston Rockets and Houston, Texas! I hope Yao and the Chinese team medal in basketball, as long as the gold is taken by the United States. :cool:

    happy for yao.. he looks almost teary-eyed... btw, watching the olympic drummers and they are off the hook..

    I watched it yestaday. China was the last team to come out and you could see Yao from a mile away. He wore a different uniform compared to those behind him :D

    Actually yao wore same uniform with all male athletes, those behind him are female ones

    Really? I swear Yao's red jacket was a lot darker than those behind him. Maybe its because it buttoned it up.

    I'm happy for Yao. I didn't realize Olympic sports was the pinnacle for China's athletes. No wonder Yao wanted to play in the Chinese Olympics so much. Just imagine if America had never hosted the Olympics and you got to be the face of the very first one. How much would it hurt you to miss out on that?

    And great story with that little kid....

    very nice indeed... nice to see all the countries come out and the camaraderie amongst all the various countries' athletes.. the power of what unity and sportsmanship can accomplish.. humanity has a chance after all.. good job china :D
