Please Morey don't sign T-crap or Yao in 2010 to an extension unless it's for the Vet's minimum. We need to move past this era quickly.
The Rockets are moving on without Wafer. They already offered him a $3.5 million offer and he declined, thinking he could get more money from other teams. Plus, the Rockets need a center instead of another guard.
Completely agree. The front office needs to move fast in order to acquire two C/PFs that are worth anything. Trade Stacy FAST before everything is gone!
Wats the point of trading Tracy now? Its not like he's going to play a single minute this year. Maybe he comes back next Feb or Mar and gets his 30ppg or maybe he decides to call it quits on his team like he did in Orlando in 2004. Whatever we do, DO NOT TRADE TRACY MCGRADY unless its for 2010 expirings/or a star. Trading Tracy now is NOT an option. Wait until 2010 and draft a legit C. C's on the FA are way too expensive although there will be a whole lot of them on the market in 2010.
I read that one of the options is waiting it out for 2 months, while using "CRUTCHES" with a cast. My only question is, why the hell didn't Tom suggest that in the beginning....I know it won't prevent his injuries, but at least take extra pre-cautions.
Agreed on all counts except drafting a C in the 2010 Draft is a priority. If that's the best player available then sure, go for it. But we can't limit ourselves.
I know Yao is a big guy but man, if this is our so called franchise player, at least do the right thing. I also wasn't exactly happy how Rick utilized Yao's rotation minutes either. (Whole 1st quarter, plus 3-4 minutes in the 2nd before getting a rest) But mmmm whatever, what is done is done. T-mac and Yao era is a big "What if", maybe Marvel Comics can do a 1 shot.
Yes, sort of. If the Rockets sign Ariza to the full MLE deal on Wednesday (as is currently expected), then the Rockets could conceivably sign Wafer to a new contract (up to the full MLE amount, but more likely to a small portion) using the Disabled Player Exception. The problem with this is, the Disabled Player Exception can only be used on one player (either via free agency or a trade). If the Rockets spend it on Wafer, then they will still be without a center. The more prudent approach, assuming that Morey can convince all parties to be patient enough to wait for the Disabled Player Exception to be granted to the Rockets by the league (hence, the strong sense of urgency on the timing of Yao's surgery), would be for the Rockets to sign ARIZA with the Disabled Player Exception. Remember, it is for the exact same amount as the MLE, so Ariza would still get his entire contract value (5 yrs., ~$33M), and he would be the "one player" on which it is used. THEN, the Rockets would still have their entire MLE available. The MLE can be split up amongst several players. The Rockets would likely then split the MLE up among Wafer, a center, Taylor and Budinger. HURRY, MOREY, CALL THAT LEAGUE OFFICE ASAP!!!
The Rockets are screwed. The legacy of Yao will be the oft-injured center who was good when he was on the court but not on the court enough to help a team make a serious championship run. I have no doubt he will be back just as I have no doubt he will get injured again. I have to question whether it is all worth it and whether it is just better to let him go and move on. Yes, he could go on to win multiple championships with another team. Or, he could go on to be injured many more times elsewhere. Maybe it just isn't in the cards for him with the Rockets? In the end, I think this whole thing comes down to money. Rockets owner won't give up revenue stream generated by having Yao versus not having Yao...regardless of how many injuries he has to go through. A Rockets team without Yao won't sell tickets or sell merchandise. Toyota Center will be a sparsely populated place next season with no Yao factor. Next season will be a wash if this post is true. We will probably be pretty good but not serious contenders...unless Tmac regains his early career form and we find someone to hold down the center position.
Yea. . they no longer useful so you want to drop them like they hot Thanks for the loyalty and friendship Rocket River . . . .disposable society i guess
The same reason they forced Tmac to play on a severly injured knee. The Houston doctors have proven to be a joke, and thankfully Tmac was wise enought to seek medical help on his own, outside the organization. He possibly saved his career by doing that even though most of the damage was already done.
