I'm tired of people stealing that line for a team that didn't earn it. That line belongs to a group of guys who busted ass and won back to back titles. Not a team that celebrated first round playoff series victories. I love this current group of Rockets...and I loved watching them grit it out in the playoffs...but I don't think it's fair to either squad to hijack that "heart of a champion" line for this group.
Yao might as well announce his retirement as well. Its just going to be the same with him every year, season ending injury, just a different type of injury. I'm so tired of the Rockets depending so much on such an injury prone player. If he doesnt want to retire, its time to get rid of his a$$!
Instead of rebuilding, I just tell myself we are positioning to reload. Things could be/have been worse: Yao's Broken leg during the streak Pujols' Home Run off Lidge Stockton's 3 over Barkley Buffalo Bills Field Goal in Overtime Every one of these events made us feel way worse than we feel right now. Hang in there. I still believe wan can win a title in the next 5 years. And when we do, we will be in a position to win more than one. Sometimes you gotta take a step back to take two steps forward. Still sucks though, I know.
This is a whole season... Not just a few weeks... e will all be wondering 'what if' this whole season...
He'd got injure this season reguardless. If he comes back next season hell get injured again. Time to move on...Yao is useless.
The SECOND that Yao goes under the knife, Daryl Morey needs to be on the phone with the league office, scheduling to have an independent, league-appointed physician come out and take a look at Yao's post-surgery condition. If this is widely considered to be a surgery that requires an entire year to recover from, then the Rockets might be able to expedite the process to obtain the Disabled Player Exception. Typically, this is a long, drawn out process and the exception is difficult to obtain. I think this situation, however, should merit it. If (most of) Yao's salary next year is covered by insurance, then Les really is saving a bunch of money on team salaries this year. He should be able to use even a portion of those funds to go a little over the luxury tax threshold and find a competent replacement center and/or make a major move that involves the Rockets taking on more salaries.
My concern is that since this will take so much time, that there won't be anyone left worth going for with the disabled exception.
I think you're underestimating the long-term nature of these injuries Yao has dealt with.....they're propensity to keep returning and what that means for this franchise going forward.
A few people keep mentioning the T-Mac/Yao era has ended. Well, I have news for you, it ended about a season and a half ago. Since then, it's been on and off. We had the T-Mac comeback era, and the Yao without T-Mac era, and next year we'll have the T-Mac without Yao era, but as far as considering this an era where they're together or going to be together, yeah it's over and it has been for a while. Sad.
Well this can't any worst from now on for Yao. I wish him the best in the surgery and rehab take care big guy. As for the Rockets time to fill out the paper for medical exemp for Yao don't know how much money that will give the team to spend on a Center(Za Za) then trade TMac because it is time to get something in return go for the fences and try to get either Bosh or Amare and that would be great either way. I still believe in the team and will not give up this season.
I agree, he is going to be saving all of TMAC's contract if we keep him and he doesnt play now he is also going to be saving all of Yao's contract!!! That player exception could be huge if they want to pick up a young big man but please no aging vets rather just pay the vetern minimum for those guys.
