I believe this could be a blessing in disguise if the rockets could also get bosh as a free agent and get an impact player in the draft. The Rockets would essential rebuild this team into a title contender and get younger just in one season.
Painful. Heartache. But, at least I think we'll get some money out of this, if I'm not mistaken... Somebody tell me the rules on this, if he's out the whole season for something, we get part of that money to spend don't we? Oh well, at least it's something definite. Something concrete. And now I can sleep...or try to... Ugh...
Dang, I was hoping he would opt for a cast and letting it heal. I feel bad for Yao, he works so hard. Now we have $40+ million tied up in 2 guys who can't play. Thank you NBA and guaranteed contracts. DD
I still think the rebuild will be relatively quick and painless. Oh, and the Yao Ming era has now officially drawn to a close. Even if his 2010/2011 season is injury free, the Rockets would be insane to sign him to a maximum contract extension.
He's probably going to do the big Z thing and change the structure of his foot bone. Possibly both feet? If so does anyone remember how long it took Big Z to recover from his surgery? (Prof?)
Makes sense but if we get bosh as a free agent i doubt we'd be too bad, which would mess up the draft pick. i say we blow this season and come back strong with yao tmac and the #1 draft pick.
I hope and pray that it will be a success. Yao is a brave man,he knows that this could end his career but he is willing to go ahead with it,so he can get another chance to play.
Two and a half years I think. Sad to hear Yao out. He's such a hardworking player . On the bright side, T-Mac will play better? He always does good when Yao's out. Time to tank
Wow, I thought this was coming, but its here and its crushing. Just waiting for Bimathug of someone to come along and give us the low down on the cap ramifications.
Happy to hear this news as it will prolong Yao's career, improve his life down the line, and makes our life easier. I am quite certain that he will come back for the last 10-15 games if we're out of the playoffs. This will show the pending FA's that his career is not over and will also give him a gauge for how much he needs to work out that summer. For the time being, we assume Yao is out and McGrady will either play or be traded. Moneyball-wise, there is no way Darryl is going to let T-Mac sit out the year with us with Yao also out.
