The two injuries are not comparable. Yao's was not a big deal.

I was about to bring that up. I got 40 points using 'qat' the other day.

I don't mean to diss the NT, but as long as Yao is in game shape before the season starts, I could care less.

In fact, his was a very small deal - a bone spur. They rested Yao this long probably more to give him the rest than to recover from his injury. And coming back from rest means getting back into shape including getting your quickness back. Starting now means he'll be in shape in time for training camp.

Here's a translated interview with Tom Thibodeau about Yao.

Obviously the writer made some mistake about the 18+ rebounds. It's probably either 10+ or 8+. Nobody that knows anything about the NBA should expect 18+ rebounds out of anybody, let alone Yao.

He should grab at least 18 rebs vs iceland in qutar but 18 per season.. that would be a record setting year for rebounds.

The following article (in Chinese) said Yao has to rest for a few days because of the "blood bubble" (sorry, don't know how to translate it) on his foot (right foot?), which occured since he started practicing with CNT. He has been resting during the weekend and is expected to resume practicing on Monday or Tuesday.

Hope he takes it easy and won't try too hard. :(
