Out of interest, is it not a custom in China to wear something formal (suit, tuxedo) to a wedding banquet?
For the dinner at Beijing, Yao Ming had deliberately told his and Ye Li's team mates that they needed not wear formal, as it was not supposedly to be the official wedding banquet. For the real wedding banquet in Shanghai, it was almost like a closed door affair between family members and relatives of Yao Ming and Ye Li, so other than the bride and bridegroom, and the best man and best maid, the guests were sort of dressed casual and smart.
