The reporters both local and foreign are ready..... The flower bouquets are arriving The musicians have arrived The flower boys and girls (4 of each) have arrived too and so has Zhang Mingji, Leader of Team Yao So another hour to go...............
The Chronicle is now reporting this as well. Perhaps the people who feel the need to complain about this thread can send the Chron an e-mail to complain there as well... http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/5029484.html Thanks again for the info, pryuen. You are not the reason this site exists, but your work in finding and translating information sure beats the smartasses who focus more on attempting to ridicule a contributor than on contributing information themselves.
It has not started yet..... It will last for 4 hours from 18:00 pm to 22:00 pm. It is now 17:30 pm. The rundown, according to what was reported on the major websites is: 18:00 pm ~ 18:30 pm will be guests arriving/signing memorial books 18:30 pm the wedding begins. 18:45 pm exchange of rings/ bridegroom kissing the bride 19:00 pm serving champaign 19:30 pm ~ 22:00 pm the wedding banquet So I will update this forum for the next 4 hours with whatever materials/photos I manage to obtain........
Can we hijack this thread again and turn it into another "Maggie Q is hot" thread? Just kidding. I'm happy for Yao and his new bride. I am fascinated by how his kids will turn out as basketball players.... Morey needs to work on getting them under contract. Get it done Morey!
http://sports.sina.com.cn/k/2007-08-06/18143086365.shtml Team Yao sent a spokesperson to address the reporters at 17:40 pm. Yao Ming wishes to clarify some inaccurate reports from the media: There is no shark fin served during the wedding banquet. He had vowed earlier about not eating shark fin. He is committed to honor his own words. There will not be any launch on the Huangpu River as reported. Yao Ming will just be spending his time with his and Ye's family, relatives and close friends. He will not recieve/entertain any interviews from media today The best man is Shen Wei, an ex-Shanghai Sharks team mate, a close buddy of him. The best maid is Hu Xiaotao, Ye Li's best friend and team mate on the national team. He also distributed candies for the reporters as well as a CD-ROM with the above photo for their use.
The gift/candies Yao Ming distributed to the reporters The reporters fighting for their gifts/candies The arrival of family/relatives/friends of the bridegroom and bride The security doing their job checking the guests for their invitation The arrival of the flower girls
Well said, SJC. Here's something interesting. It appears to me the Houston Chronicle goofed up again. The picture posted in the above link is not a recent updated photo of Yao. Rather, as I recall, it is more than a year old. Check the picture I posted in the Yao Ming 2006 Summer Activities thread (http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=2433200&postcount=345): So if the Houston Chronicle can loosely refer to a year-old photo as "recent updated photo" and not get busted, maybe that Chinese reporter Wang Meng -- who was blasted for posting an outdated TMac workout video -- should be given same leeway as well?
So there was Benifer, Brangelina and Tomkat -- now we have Liming. (this has been a sublimingonal message)
"Behind every great man, there is a woman." We can now safely conclude that Yao Ming will be a beast next season since his personal life is rosy and in order Ye Li will motivate and inspire her husband to obtain 27/11/3/2 blocks next season and we win the championship. You saw it here first. muahahahaha
Yeah you're right, I clearly overlooked. After all, I am just as human as the Houston Chronicle. However, my position stands. A recent undated photo still alludes to something occurred recently, not a year ago. Wang Meng got busted for his TMac workout video boo-boo, Houston Chronicle should be called out too.
just curious what is the official marriage date? the dateline thing confuses me, is it now the 7th or the 5th in China?
According to a report in sina, the wedding ceremony started at 18:00 on August 6, Shanghai local time. Shanghai time is the same as (official) Beijing time, which is 12 hours ahead of EDT (eastern daylight saving time) in the US. EDIT: before that, Yao and Ye went to the marriage registry of local district in Shanghai and obtained their wedding certificate around 8 pm on August 3 (Shanghai time).
