Lee Tung Hui was a former Japanese soldier in WWII, has a Japanese name, studied in Japan's university before WWII, whose brother died for Imperial Japan, and harbors a complex of Japanese culture. There's nothing wrong with liking Japan's culture, but things aren't so simple when it includes worshipping everything Japan did.

Lee belongs to a group of people in Taiwan, who are ethically Chinese but brainwashed by Imperial Japan's war propaganda, which emphasized on loyalty towards Japan at no condition.

At first, Lee wasn't allowed to enter the Kuomingtong because Imperial Japan was the party's dead enemy, and he worked for the enemy. The Kuomingtong leader then, granted Lee amnesty because he thought Lee is an able and integral man. He's right about the former but dead wrong on the latter. Lee rose to power after the leader who promoted him was dead, and gradually broke down Kuomingtong from inside, creating factions and internal conflicts. His loyalty lies with Japan, not the Republic of China, he talks about breaking Mainland China into seven pieces, and endorse right wing Japanese worshipping war criminals. Hehe, guess what Lee is regarded by many Kuomingtong party members now, TRATOR. As a result Lee is no longer a member of Kuomingtong.

The Taiwan Independance movement started from the sixties, a time long before Lee took power. It was a political ploy to dethrone Kuomingtong through defaming Chinese. The Kuomingtong leader back then, Chang Jie Shek, was a loyal Chinese at heart and put the pipes down the movement, went as far as saying he'd execute anyone who talks about Independance.

no one fears japan. given technological advances in japan, it would take them a few days to make nukes. japanese so called "self-defense" is basically a military under a different name. their annual military spending is about the same as china. for a country that small, i wonder why, especially with US bases there as well. they are pacifist in disguise. to me, a true demonstration of regret is abolish imperial rule. that's the condition they didn't want to give up after surrendering to US. gees, i wonder why. i mean, i understand why they are not really apologizing for anything. if i'm japanese, it would be hard to do as well. but US just passed something in the congress to demand japan to apologize for WWII comfort women too. and they didn't really do anything. so, what does that tell you? everyone want peace ok. no one wants war. but at least be sincere when you apologize, make an effort. i don't think anyone would accept fake apologies.

As you can clearly see from this map of China and Taiwan the colors used to designate the two nations are very different. Additionally on the island there is absolutely no label of China anywhere to be seen - thus proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that Taiwan is an independent nation.

you and your mastery of singularities....don't you ever get tired of lording it over us mere peons?

Very well, bald one, perhaps I am only a doctor of jurisprudence - I concede, counselor. And perhaps I am not an evil genius hominid with a 300+ IQ. Let me ask you this, and I am speaking for my fellow doctors, nay, dareisay, surgeons, of lex.]

If you prick us do we not bleed? If you tickle us do we not laugh? If you poison us do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?

Gestate on that, while you investigate the unified allopetia theory, my shiny craniumed amigo.

    Kingcheetaa:

LOL, this is getting funny. The identity of a region is to be proved by an internet map, you are grasping at straws.

Is there a seat of Taiwan in the United Nations? No. Is there any major country acknowledge Taiwan as a country? No. Did Taiwan declare independance from China? No. Do the major countries agree with China that Taiwan is part of it? Yes. To sum it up, nobody cares about that little cute internet map, legally, Taiwan is not an independant entity.

Would you let the Alaskans go independant if the Indians and other minorities there hate what you've done to them in the past? Just curious.

I certainly would. It would mean more democratic electoral votes/senators, and really I don't care about the blow to the national prestige.

You see, that is the difference between colonialists and post-colonialists. I have yet to find a chinese who would willingly give up any of their occupied territories. Fortunately for us, we somehow reached that stage of develpment about a half century ago when we ceded places like the Phillipines, etc.

Good to see some holier than thou attitude there, if that's the source of your confidence, pal, then good for you. For the sake of consistency, would you let all the Indians in the USA declare independance if they want to? How about the blacks? If Martin Luther King advocated all the black people concentrated towns and cities to go independant from the USA, would you stand by his side?

i think in the case of phillipines, it wasn't really like US wanted to keep them. but i don't know what i'm talking about :D anyhow, it's easy to say that you would let part of US split. i doubt it'll ever happen. let me know when an actualy US states split, then i will believe you. another note, would you let a single house hold split? or a community split from US? why does indians only have reservations? not nations? don't some of the tribes call themselves "nation"? how come they are still part of US?

An excellent point Panda ~ here is a second map to cement the fact that the two fine nations are indeed separate entities:

Again notice the striking differences in color.

I wouldn't mind that much about indians at all.

Most reservations, as sad as they are, are at least treated as sovreign nations anyway, and it doesn't bother me in the least. Why would it? Anyway, where do you think all the indian casinos come from?

As far as black nationalism goes - yes this has been a recognized (non-crushed) movement in the US for 100's of years. Do some research and see where the country of Liberia came from. But yeah if there was some fictitious black separatist homeland in the US, I don't find it that distressing a proposition.

No, I do not care if some states in the US left. That would save hte rest of us from being governed by an idiot like GWB. As long as we had close/transparent/non protectionist economic relations with the rest, which is a pretty natural outcome anyway, I wouldn't mind at all if people from Mississippi wanted to have their own government.

You are a genius. How come I didn't think of it before? Great, I'd just make a map of the Earth and mark down "Panda Nation", then declare myself as the King of Earth. Isn't that sweet? Be sure to remind me not to use strikingly different color to show different parts of my kingdom, upon that I shall kindly consider making you my top eunuch. ;)
