It's starting to look that way. These guys cannot play a majority of the year together in any season lately. What's so frustrating is that Yao was a rock his first few years in the league. Granted, his minutes were significantly lower due to him being foul prone, but he'd still give you 27-32 minutes a night every night.

Still, is it too much to ask as a diehard, long-suffering Rockets fan that this team get ONE FREAKING CHANCE at a title run without it being derailed by injuries?! And no, last year doesn't count. We may have been healthy for the most part against Utah, but Yao's absence for 2 months clearly took its toll on T-Mac who had to carry the load the entire time.

I hate to be the one to add a silver lining to this, but ...

-- It's now good that the Rockets didn't sacrifice Landry, Scola or Brooks to get Ron Artest or Mike Miller.

-- The Bobby Jackson trade looks better because that trade was always good for the team starting NEXT season.

we should still be able to get the 8th seed without Yao if we're really a contender. then we just have to hope and pray that yao's stress fracture will heal quickly since he's still relatively young and that rehab can be shortened to 4 weeks instead of 6.

so 10 weeks would put him right before the playoffs begin.

i'm surprised that they would say out for the season so quickly.

that's exactly why making a trade for just one season when you have core players that have more than one season left in them is usually not a great idea.
