the funny thing is when i look at the "Official We Believe Thread" believed what? a playoff spot? a playoff round win? is that only our expectation? come on , we're uesd to be champion. and we are suppose to have a chance to regain the glory. without yao, lie to yourself, believe? in NBA, there is not lucky to be a champ-team.
I told my friend that the doctor is probably a mavs fan and took a sledgehammer and hit yao's foot I can only hope we don't have to face the lakers in the first round, otherwise, I think we still have a chance of at least making it out of the first round, IF we make it to the playoffs
Funny how it boils down to some doctors in China saying they know better than the US doctors. Uh, sure you do.... Look, the doctor in the press conference said there are 2 methods for fixing this, and both work. 1. Rest 2. Surgery The only reason to do number 2 is to make the bone actually STRONGER and have Yao less likely to have it happen again. And the normal time for wearing a cast is 6 weeks and rehibilitation can start within the next 2 weeks after that. Yao will probably be completely fine in 3 months, but they are being extremely cautious, as they should be.... Ironically, before MRI's players probably played with this type of injury all the time.....sometimes it would heal on it's own, other times, it probably got worse. This is a minor injury....but one that can not, nor should not be ignored. DD
When I knew this, my tears fall down, Oh,Yao come on , I am waiting to see you on the court,I am waiting, It is just a joke, and I'll see Yao on the court again the next game.
HUH? We never even went past the first round with Yao and TMac the four years they were together. We got beat by Utah with Okur and Boozer toying with us. So its not like we went from Spurs level team to not making the playoffs. In other words, this year we might have a good team but I don't think anyone here actually believed we would win it all. The win against hornets helped but we still had some ways to go before becoming the elite. So just because Yao is hurt doesnt mean we give up on the season, maybe lower our expectations from making a run at the championship to making it past the first round. Which is still very much possible! I personally think if we meet Utah, we might actually have a good shot this year with this team even without Yao than we did last year! So go ROCKETS!!
because if he does that the hairline fracture will develop into a comlpete fracture potentially threatening his career right now it's just a small crack contained in bone. you keep screwing with it and the crack will grow until it actually splits the bone right now the crack is so small it cannot even be seen on an x-ray. when it turns into larger fracture through continued stress, that's when it can be seen on an xray and a lot of dudes actually dont know they have a break until then you CAN play on it... a lot of dudes dont know any better and play on it for months... and it gets worse every day it's not diagnosed
It was smart to have him take the rest of the year off. I had a friend who had this injury who kept playing - and now it is now worse than ever. This injury is not career threatening... and with modern medicine, things look optimistic. Look on the bright side... the rest of our players are going to get solid playing time. Scola and Landry will have more time to develop. Also, I really don't see this team crumbling. I predict 2nd round, even without Yao (my heart is saying this... my mind, well, not thinking about it).
What is the Chinese media saying? Was there a collective thread for that? According to ESPN, Titan Sports is blaming the Rockets: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3266723
Hey, on the bright side, at least smaller players can't run into him and get BS foul calls now.....we sure showed them! NOW how are you going to get the refs to screw us, NBA???
I know I am risking getting booted off the forums here on CF but I personally think Yao is overrated. I am not saying he isn't good because clearly he is. But the guy has missed 57 games in the last 2 years alone, he is extremely turnover prone, and IMHO he is an average defender and rebounder given his size. Do I think we are better without Yao? No obviously not, but I think we can do fine without him and I think other big men in the league would get the same stats he does and not get hurt as often. Another thing is if you look at the league there are very few dominant low post big men anymore. So even if I thought Yao was the best Center in the league (I think D Howard is) that's not even saying that much because there isn't much competition. Maybe it is just me but I would rather have the best PF, SF, Sg, or PG in the league than having the best Center in the league. Thats all for now...PLEASE DONT KILL ME!
Yao's stat this season : 22/11(10.8)/2, please tell me how many bigs can do this? Yao is not just the best C, he is one of the best bigs if not the best. You still need a dominant big to win the title in most years.
Sigh, I just cannot focus on my work..... Next year we should handle this very carefully, injuries hurt us too much
It's amazing that Yao's injury and Houston's 13 wins in a row are headline news of most of Chinese news website....
