I understand the doctors want Yao to get healthy, and I also understand that a stress fracture takes a long time to heal... but jeez, is there really no way we can get him back in time for the playoffs? I'm pretty sure we have the talent and depth to still make the playoffs, but we really need Yao if we are gonna seriously compete for a title with the likes of LA, Dal, phx, etc. Here's to hoping there is some way his rehab progresses faster than thought initially, and he makes it back for the playoffs. I'm not holding my breath, but aside from hoping for that, staying positive, and standing behind our team there is little else we fans can do.
I'm and Just when the season was coming together nicely, we get hit with this. I was at work looking forward to another W in the records, checking the scores when I read the news about Yao's injury. Yao get well soon!
Even if that were true, that means we made the playoffs without him. Would you really want a Yao who hasn't played or even ran hard for the past month and a half playing in a cruical playoff game when your team has developed chemistry without him? I mean just throwing in a 7'6" guy who brings 22/11 a night is not that easy. He will be so frustrating to watch, plus he won't get crucial rest. I mean, we are probably not going to win the series anyways if we need a rusty/injured Yao to save us right? It's T-Mac and co. from here on out, let's see how far that takes us.
honestly, yao in a limited role at first is better than no yao. simply being on the court creates easier scoring. also, i have no doubt we can make the playoffs despite his absence.
so there is no chance in hell yao can play anything during the playoffs if we make it??? even 10-15 mpg in may would benefit our team greatly
Hey guys, regarding long lasting affects from this injury... Here in Australia, what we call football (you call Australian Rules) I have seen several players recieve this injury, including one of the games greatest players ever, who in fact had it happen to him twice before travelling to the states to see a particular specialist surgeon. He returned fine. Better then ever infact, at an age older then Yao. For those who dont think this is of much relevants, or know nothing of the sport, these guys are well and truly athletes, who play 120 Minutes of hard running, jumping, tackling etc a game. I think Yao will be fine long term, hurts too see though.
I understand how upset everyone is (although some people are being total babies about all this and overreacting) and this was really the last thing our team needed if we're to make a serious title run, but it is time to get a grip. Let's all stop running around in anguish calling for stupid trades (either of Yao or T-mac) or being completely pessimistic. We have to be realistic about all of this, losing Yao most likely means we're not gonna win the title but it doesn't mean we're dead this year. It doesn't mean it's time to pack it in and it doesn't mean we can't make or even win in the playoffs. I even saw a post from some guy that seriously pondered whether or not we should just tank the rest of the season in order to get a higher lottery pick-I don't even wanna point out all the things wrong with that. Let's keep our chins up, people. But yeah, we seldom do get credit for how good our team is. A lot of sports writers and media types are right to question our stars' ability to stay healthy and our failure to get our of the first round the past few seasons, but where the writers go wrong is not accurately weighing those facts against our current team's talent and production, not to mention our team's potential. In my time seriously following the Rockets (in the post Hakeem days) I've noticed that our team rarely gets the credit it deserves but... that's just the way it is. Bingfei, don't be so ready to abandon the Rockets bandwagon or your hope that we can be competitive in the playoffs. Truth is, we probably won't make the WCF in the staked West, and we almost certainly won't win a title without Yao, but there is no reason we can't still compete. And there is no reason why you can't still follow and root for your fav. team, whether we streak or skid from here on without Yao. There's no reason you can't still hope for the very possible (and major for our team) first round playoff win, the possibility of a lucky run into the late rounds of the playoffs, and furthermore, there is no reason you can't still hope for the growth and progression of our team and for what next season may hold (and I think we can all agree, our team has a very promising future with young players like Scola, Landry, Green and Brooks). Finally, bing, realize our team is still, even without Yao, one of the 10 best teams in the league. Realize that the future of our team is promising, and for the next several seasons we are gonna be serious competitors and contenders. Being a fan isn't always easy, especially when you're as passionate about basketball and the Rockets as most of us are, but our team has something most teams in this league don't. We have proven talent, a good coach and system, and a premium blend of both young talent and veteran leadership, and we are only looking for a few minor pieces to really put us over that hump from contender to champion. Most teams in this league, even if they have good teams, have a lot they need to fix or add, and at least a dozen or so bad teams are looking for answers with little hope of contending in the foreseeable future. It hurts to be a Rockets fan right now, but we still have hope, we still have a shot, and we still have a promising foreseeable future. Tell me, bing, how easy do you think it is to be a Bobcat or Hawks or Clippers fan? Exactly.
Hyperbaric treatment is meant to be able to cut recovery time by a third.
The main pionts is that : Yao's ill is not as serious as be expected. There are more effective medicine to solve it in China. Yao hasn't to have operation immediately.First he should ask chinese doctor about his ill, then decide how to solve it.
Yao Ming,Yao Ming,Yao Ming,Yao Ming... You are our Yao Ming Our only Yao Ming When the skies are Grey You make us happy Coz When It's Pouring You Just Keep dunking Please Don't Take Our Yao Ming Away
I understand that the stress fracture needs to be fixed, but apparently it hasn't been bothering Yao, so why can't he hang it up for most of the rest of this season, do a lot of low impact cardio (pool work, ellipticals, etc.) so that he isn't putting unnecessary pressure on it, hit the gym, and just practice his shooting etc., until the post season gets here and then suit up. The most games they could possibly play in the post season is 28, but that's almost impossible, most likely they'd play 15 to 20 if we do really well. Since there is no telling when it happened, he may have been playing with it all season, suck it up, and if it looks like we can make it to the playoffs, then start suiting up, starting with low minutes near the end of the regular season, and play in the post season. After that get the surgery and rehab all summer. If the wheels fall off and we aren't going to make any noise in the playoffs, then get the surgery. Of course I'm no doctor, and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night or anything, but is that not even a possibility? I was hoping when Morey said they were looking into second opinions and sending the findings to experts around the country, he may be inferring that Yao coming back could be possible depending on what other doctors think? Any med students in here that can shed some light on this as a possibility?
BlakeB, it is not what i want to act like cry baby to look back post-dream time, what have we been through? every signle NBA season, we find the best excuses we can find. even we are mad about rocket sometimes, it's never got to change the fact "to be clutch forever". the truth is , since we got yao and Tmac together, talent, star, support, coach, system.....nothing is changed the fact we're turning to strange circle. sometime, i thought maybe it is easier to be bad team fan, who doesn't need to shock every year. and i am even starting to think i may not shock about rocket anymore, to be the bad way, off course.
