How will this injury affect his career? Will it cause him to have to compensate for his injured foot? Will it slow him down even more? Will he never be as physically able as he was before his injury?

I read that Yao might not take surgery but just some rest, and he can start to play within a month and half. That said, he can still be in playoff games. Is that possible?

IANAD, but from what I understand if you stay off a stress fracture it'll basically heal up on its own with no lasting ill effects.

agree...it's the result of our not getting a good pack-up for Yao..Hope our new Green, bobby could do something really helpful ..~~ hope our team could still be that strong without Yao..Facing up to our extremly tough playoffs..

    It's sad day everyone!

    It's sad day everyone!

Suddenly, everything is changed. With yao out of season, there is no way we can reach the expectation this season. I am not talking about making the playoff, and i strongly believed we much better than one-and-done postseason venture.

you know what? i have been reading every major sport news regarding our recent success, from Power ranking to west playoff race.....TNT....., none of them give us enough credits. everytime i read those articles and watch fat Backley ignored us, i told myself those idoits soon or later will know how stupid they are.

now.....i don't know if rox is too unlucky or it is much harder to be a rox fan than i thought.
season is still going on, for me, it feel it is over. I almost feel most of clutch fans have same feeling as none of them is talking about yao in the frist 2 pages of post game thread vs was

I try not to be the type to say this, but...

This couldn't have gone in one of the many other threads about Yao's injury?

we just whupped a team by 25 pts with tmac struggling with his shot and you're saying the season is over?

this team does not revolve around yao nor anybody. the season goes on. the fan will continue to support the team.

how far can we go without yao seriously? if rox's expectation only limited by first-round.. then pretty much explain why people ignored us

our goal this year was to get out of the first round ANYWAYS technically. and if we can get certain matchups, we can advance out of the first round.

utah is a team that we can beat without yao (don't let that loos earlier fool you, novak was just horrible defensively).

hornets/nuggets/spurs are all fairly good matchups.

again, even with yao, though the expectations are higher, it doesn't guarantee us advancing out of the first round (like it hasn't been for the past 4 yrs).

as a fan, u keep supporting the team and wishes for the best.

i love if yao stayed healthy and contribute. but now he's gone for the season and we get to see the continuing emergence of scola and landry.

i still believe in this team. we have the depth to fill yao's absence. and if tmac gets hot like he did in 04-05, well, we can still achieve some things.

    What?

It's big news to EVERYONE associated with the Rockets and with this site, and that's why there's already a 42 page thread on the topic.

I was wondering why is Yao so slow in the last game like he's laboring up and down the court. I was kind of pissed at the way he played ...that's why he got dunked on by Gooden. I know sometimes Yao has games where he's super quick and games where he's laboring up and down ....but never thought for a moment that he's have problem with the foot. Now i know the reason why. It was unlike Yao ...it's better to have a healthy Yao with better quickness than a slow laboring Yao.

The last game i watched Yao against the Bulls, he was laboring and wasn't quick at all and didn't like his slowness. He even got dunked on my Gooden. Now i know why. Yao should be much quicker than that.
