To imply that the Rockets' medical staff is somehow responsible for this is beyond silly. If anything, these guys did a fantastic job catching this injury so early. The doctor explained at the 1:00PM press conference that these types of injuries can take up to 4 months to diagnose. There was no indication that this injury wasn't anything more than a simple sprain. If folks have been watching the games, they would have seen Yao take a few tumbles over the past couple of weeks which could have led to a few sprains. It wasn't until the doctors saw the fluid buildup around the bone that they knew it was something more serious. they ordered the CAT scan and that's when they saw the stress fracture. Oh, and for those folks who are venting at Yi, Yi stepped on Yao's RIGHT foot. The stress fracture is in his LEFT foot.

I'm not one of those that's going to freak out and say the season is done (we will play run-and-gun and make it the playoffs, but stop in the 1st round), but I do know what SHOULD be done- our superstar combo. I just don't think we can win a championship crossing our fingers every year and hoping that McBreaky or Yao-ch doesn't go down.

So you are still satisfied with just making the playoffs? I'm tired of Rockets just making the playoffs and nothing else. With Yao out, yes those teams are much better than the Rockets.

This news just ruined my day ... my week ... and my month. Hopefully, it won't ruin my year.

Ah crap......maybe Yao began overcompensating because Yi mashed his foot.

this is just HORRIBLE . . since watchin the rockets for about a decade now . . maybe this one will hurt the most because, well . . for one, we were definite champ. contenders in the west, and now . . well it's gone down the drain . . unless TMAC becomes this years and this post season's JORDAN . . and our role players including BJ to make something happen, then WE can just HOPE . . as of now we can't predict nothing, but just mourn for Yao and SERIOUSLY hope he can come back AS SOON AS POSSIBLE . . and we'll see where we stand tonight after the wiz game . . it's either rollin to 13 or bust.

What a news!! He then should not have played in the all star. Anyway, does anyone still think we do not need a back up center??

I blame Yao for being injury prone...

I blame Yao for playing through injuries...

I blame RA for playing Yao 40 minutes a game (even Shaq in his prime played like 3 minutes less a game)

I blame myself for finally thinking we has some 3rd scoring options...and could go father than a first round exit...

man if I was a talented free agent... I would steer clear of a team with our two stars..

i'm surprised how some of you jump on and off the bandwagon on a regular basis. i know this is bad news, and the reality of it is that we won't go as far as we may have WITH Yao, but come one!!! have some faith. be a true fan. cheer on your team through thick and thin, and don't give up until it's over.

How did he look so good during Hornets game when he put up 28/14, abusing chandler like he was a rag doll?

Yao was averaging 37.2 minutes this year. Shaq in his prime played 40 mpg in the 99-00 season. Shaq played 43.5 mpg in the playoffs that year,

    moral: STFU

Sad footnote for the season ... but I don't hear no fat lady singing.

Mostly I hope our man Yao gets back to 100%.

Can't he just play when we absolutely need him? like 10-15 min a game? yeah I know.. I am really reaching for straws here. let's hope Tmac and company can take us to the promised land w/out Yao. I had hope we could beat the Lakers but with Bynum coming back and Yao out... it doesn't look this way.
