The toe surgery and the broken foot are really Charles Barkley's fault. Yao got an infection digging out an ingrown toenail. And of course the broken foot was somebody landing on it. Freak accidents. Why do I blame Barkley? Because he cursed the Rockets.
There's a difference between out until the playoffs and SEASON OVER. We dont know what Yao will lend next year, he could come back full strenght. But when you think things like "Ralph Sampson" or "Rik Smits" limited minutes...wow.
it was found early so it won't affect his long term career prospects - if he allows it to fully heal and adjusts his training so it doesn't happen again or in the other foot.

Agreed. It does take some of the edge off the greatness we were all starting to see, but it doesn't mean this team, as deep as it is, can't beat any other on any given night. We can. As much as I hate hearing this/seeing this every year.... this time, aside from it being a team sport and this team being deep and talented and shooting well and and and, it really is going to be on TMAC. And in a good way... if we lose, he has his excuses... if we win... he takes the lion's share of the credit. That's a situation you'd expect him to take advantage of.
all i can say is.... the lord giveth, and the lord taketh. what a bummer. horrible, horrible day in clutch city.

You have to wonder if maybe Yao doesn't need some "Jimmy" shoes.... Some with some extra padding to give the big guy more cushion. DD
Ric Bucher suggested a good example, look at Zydrunas Ilgauskas and all his foot problems early in his career. He's an iron man now. So all hope is not lost for Yao Ming's longevity. That's the best argument I can come up with, now I'm going to cry myself to sleep.
