Well, I don't know whether you can call this another case of "bad luck." At some point, we have to accept that we placed a lot of faith on two very talented players that had a high risk of injury. McGrady is pretty fragile, with a bad back. Yao is 7'6. Giants like him have never had a great injury profile over the years. Add in the extra commitments during the summer and you have a great recipe for injury. It was a gamble, but one that the team had to take. It just so happens that we came out on the losing side of the gamble. What I have to question here is the training/coaching staff. I mean the very nature of this stress fracture injury indicates that MAYBE SOMETHING could have been done after the Bucks game to prevent it from getting worse?
im going to cry.........seriously omg this just ruined everything and in the middle of a 12 game winning streak this is devastating
he have been playing through that stress for the past month, sometimes i am wondering if it was not Yao's fault that he did not mention his discomfort earlier?? How could the doctor missed this and say it's time for Yao to rest? Yeah come to think of it Yao better suit and play through the partially healed fracture, as he had been doing for weeks.
Hmm... I woke up in the middle of the night (ok, it's only 6am), somehow logged on and THIS? This is just unbelieveable. How did it get this serious? But Rockets will still win a fair share of games without Yao. Go Rockets!
Can someone please FIRE the training staff? PLEASE! And I just ordered the damn basketball package two nights ago. FOK! Gundy is at it again! Running players into the freakin ground! Baseball countdown....
Oh, and at least we got to see what this team is truly capable of during the 12 game stretch. I really think that if the season was shortened from 82 games to 50 games, that the Rockets would be fine. The way I've been looking at this team over the past 2 years is 1 more game = 1 more chance for our 2 stars to get injured.
We are fine because we still have Tmac, we have a good team and a good center with Deke. I don't think production will drop off much and this team will continue rolling without Yao.
Ah God I hope this isn't the start of a trade Yao campaign like McGrady's. You can't put the blame on Yao. He's played way too many minutes this season IMO.
ALthough we all feel bad, I bet Yao is crying right now... He is sometimes clumsy, sometimes slow, but dude always cares about the Rox and winning.
Jim Rome leaked the news to Mark Cuban during an interview...I swear Cuban got a boner with the shocking news. We're not done yet. Don't bail out of the wagon yet. Guys simply have to step up. We will be alright. And if we're not alright...then lottery here we come.
I hate to say it, but do we have to begin to classify Yao in a category with the likes of Bill Walton? Tremendous player that just couldnt stay healthy. I mean, this is the third consecutive season that Yao will miss around 30 games of the season. Im trying to remain positive about the season, but its tough.
It's time to prepare for the off season. Realistically this season is OVER. The Rockets have been playing well enough that they may make the playoffs even without Yao, but in the playoffs I don't think that we stand a chance against the elite of the West. The TMac/Yao era has been marked by injuries and what could have beens. I think that next year maybe the last chance for the combo. Sigh...this could have been a great season...
Sorry to see this happen, as a fan of the Jazz I was looking forward to great playoffs with all the teams so close, and maybe a second round meeting. Magloire? Justin Williams?
