Wow, there's like 10 feet of solid red between the stands and the baseline. LOL, man. Those are great. I could never understand how patches work.
Do you think Lebron will really get the cover? I could see it happening, but I also have my doubts. Maybe they'll have multiple covers this year. That would probably cause a problem though as certain covers would be favored and so there might be leftover inventory of the least popular player.
If Live 2004 is anything like 2003, or worse, 2002, then there will be a lot left in inventory no matter who they put on the cover.
The pics posted by LegendZ3 is from Live 2003 not from 2004. I created Yao and Lebron using the formula posted on some BBS and they look exactly like the guys in his pics. If you pay closer attention to the pic in confirmed 2004 version, you will know he looks very different. Still, LegendZ3, you did a good job in vidcap though!
Well...Live 2004 has been totally reworked from ground up. I played it at E3 and it is about 453% better than last year. The graphics and gameplay are alot more realistic. No more running and gunning every play. It is not Loyola Maramount basketball anymore. About the cover, it has not been decided yet who will be on the cover, that is just artwork for the site. Yao is a possibility, especially since they expect him to put up some numbers this year. The Houston Arena will be in the game, from what they told me, they were sent blueprints of the stadium and will attempt to create it as close to the projected look as possible. No more generic stadiums!!!
Wasn't 2003 reworked or something? I know it was a much different, imo, than 2002 from what I played. I still found NBA2k3 to be much better, though. I would think that eventually they need to get it right and stick with a type of play. BTW, I think NBA Live 2004 will have to be pretty realistic and good to beat ESPN 2k4 or whatever's called. That game seemed so realistic it was scary, imo. It did have a few bugs, but I think this next one can possibly be one of the best sports games ever. Just my opinion though. I'll probably still give both a chance like I did last year.
no matter how much live series improves, it always been one step late from 2k series, i mean just look at the graphic of 2k4, it looks just like real life tv. i'm a live guy myself, i love to play live series on computer coz the patchs allow me to upgrade all the new players, uniforms, logos etc.. but i may have buy a xbox this year just for play 2k4.
whats the franchise mode like for the 2k series? are there rookie drafts w/scouting reports. how long does the franchise last. salary? can you trade picks? some info please
i only played 2k3 twice at my friends' house, didn't go into all the franchise and trading stuffs, but it's the graphics and details that impresses me. i don't think that 2k3 has franchise mode, but i know 2k4 is going to have the franchise and all the other features that live series have. so i'm ready to say farewell to live series now.
I have 2k3 so I tell how it plays. There are rookie drafts with scouting reports. You have 4 days before the draft with a certain amount of workouts determined by how much you want to spend on a pool of available players. You already know some info on the players as well as an NBA comparison. The more you scout them, the more you know about how they will do in the NBA. I'm not sure exactly how long the franchise is since I usually quit about 6 or 7 seasons in. I want to say at least 10 seasons though. I am just too good at winning and it bores me. The salary is very much like the NBA. You have a cap and rookies get a certain contract. The contracts range from 1yr/4k to like 7yr/200k (TD, KG player right there.) You can trade 1st and 2nd round picks. The only problem I had with trading is you can only trade with 1 other team. I wished you could do more. There are also coaches you can sign if you have the right amount of money. They are rated by offense, defense and teaching ability. (ranging from poor to master I believe.) There contracts are similar to player contracts. After seasons players and coaches retire, though actually only Jerry Sloan has retired on me. Besides the franchise, they also have a nice little street mode. I believe they have downloadable updates, but I can't use the them on my ps2. I don't have the modem but I don't think I could do it since I don't have broadband.
The thing I can't stand with 2K series (which is why I'll never switch from Live unless it's fixed) is how players stop running when they receive passes. I'd have 2 guys on a fast break and as soon as 1 of them get tossed the ball they stop for like 2 seconds and the defenders get back in position. Hate that.
In 2k3, they won't do this ALL the time, but they will do it a lot of the time. It frustrates me as well, and there are a couple other things that frustrate me as well, but there are SO MANY things about this series that make it better than Live IMO. BTW, I actually found something out by actually reading my NBA 2K3 book and that was you can choose what to have your players improve on during training camp. I always wondered why my 7'1 300lb center would stay the same in blocks but increase in handling. It is weird to have a game for like a year and learn something new. edit: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention earlier that the game also has changeable settings so that you can change how the game is played. For example, are the dunks a bit too crazy? Lower it to add realism. Not enough blocks? Raise it and have Jason Collier look like a white Hakeem. Too hard to shoot 3's? Raise it and even Shaq may hit one. It really is a nice feature, imo.
For the last two years I've purchased the 2K series and also the Live series. And in both years I've found the 2K series to be much better than Live. Last year, Live made some major improvements but it was still not at the level of the 2K game. Given the success of Live though, I'm surprised they'd rework it again and as someone else mentioned, last year's version was suppose to be built from scratch.
the weird thing is that this was pretty much fixed in 2k2, i don't know why they forgot about it again in 2k3. if it's an every other year problem than everything should be alright for this seasons game.
Get a PS2 so you can play online. I played 2k4 at E3. It is now called ESPN Basketball. It is alot more arcadey than last year's game.
lol....well if you have 2k3 for XBox, get XBox Live and I will dominate you!!! The franchise mode is very very realistic and good. Awesome. Gameplay is good. I just don't know how to save my settings and options so I don't have to change my camera angles and stuff every single time..... And there's no Yao Ming. I created my own. Overall rating: 85. Well....they said that 2k4 will have more RUNNING and FAST BREAK. I liked 2k2 because the music was better and you could press the black buttom which would pass it to the closest person to the basket and usually for an alleyoop dunk or somethin.......I don't know why they removed that. I can't wait til they come out!!!!!!
