Mavs trolls, get ur @$$ out of this forum... this is the home of the ROX....not some MAV whiners.. Dirk is a excellent player, and i won't be suprised if he ends up winning the trophy, but yao also earned this trophy by hard working. stop complaining, and find a solution to keep that winning record going, dirk will get his own trophy when the time comes...
Wow, I must say I'm somewhat surprised at this selection. I was so sure it would go to Boozer, Williams, Dirk, or Duncan. Good to see our own center get the award! Hopefully T-Mac learns from this and think 'Yawn, hmmmm, might be time to get one myself' and goes on a 40 pts 8 assists 10 game winning streak.
That's unfair criticism for Steve Kerr. He's very fond of the combination of Yao and T-Mac, calling them the best one-two punch in the league on more than one occasion. If it is directed towards Charles Barkley, I will accept it.
Congrats to Yao. He TRULY does deserves this. He puts so much into his profession and to perfecting this craft. Regardless of whatever reasons may/will arise, Les has to do whatever it takes to keep this man in a Rockets uniform for his entire career. He is a role model for role models... Once again Yao... Congrats my man... I look forward to the rest of your career...
Comments like this strike me as preposterous since you are not hesitant to "make case" for Duncan and Boozer who aren't really THE best by your own measures. The highlighted part in fact weakens your case since Duncan's turnovers -- which in themselves are not statistically much lower that those of Yao's -- account for a much higher percentage of total turnovers by a team. What it means is Duncan did more damage than Yao to his own team. But you sure didn't bring that up while you were ripping Yao's game apart, did you? You may want to do an in-depth analysis on how missed FTs by Timmy the Big Fundamental (*snicker*) in late games adversely affect his team. That's a little superficial and one-sided. The Rockets' 2nd and the 3rd leading scorers behind Yao took more shots than their Mavs and Spurs counterparts while making approximately the same number. If these two guys shoot at higher percentages that are comparable to the Mavs and Spurs players, Yao's assist number will be very close to Duncan's. This is a tricky situation for Yao but your assessment has little merit. I don't agree Yao has problem recognizing double teams. Given his teammates' generally poor shooting, Yao has done a remarkable job at striking a balance between shooting the ball himself at much higher percentage and feeding the need for his teammates to pad their stats. Sorry but that's for others to judge. Again it's pure opinion. Like I said earlier, most NBA critics/analysts consider both points and rebounds being ranked at top 10 something not easily achievable. Hence Yao's POM is well deserved.
What case did I make for Duncan or Boozer? I said you could argue that they had a better November than Yao. I don't think I even attempted to seriously make that case. I don't understand your point. A turnover, like any stat, isn't in actuality only the responsibility of one player. It's usually the responsibility of multiple players, to varying degrees. That's why I brought up the turnovers at a team level. I don't see the relevance of pointing out the player's turnovers as a percentage of the team's. Silly comment. It wasn't my intention to go through an in depth comparison of the two players (I didn't mention rebounding or defense, both of which favor Duncan, either initially). I suggest you actually go back and read what I was responding to. The Rockets 2nd and 3rd leading scorers are Tracy and Rafer. Your assumption here is that Yao's passes will more often be delivered to them, in proportion to how much they score. That may not be the case. Fine. I disagree. You're right, it is opinion. All of it ... including the part when I said Yao is the best low post scorer in the game. Just my opinion, I could be wrong. Dirk's current 29.4 PER isn't easily achievable either. In fact, since 1978, the only players to have had a better PER in a season are: Michael Jordan, David Robinson, Shaquille O'neal, Tracy McGrady, and Kevin Garnett. Don't know for certain, but that's probably more select company than being in the top 10 in scoring and rebounding.
You faked fan stole a membership of this Houston Rockets site. Go back to your smelly Mavs fans boards, fool. We don't need trolls like you to waste the bandwidth of this site.
Dirk obviously hasn't brought down his team but he has not helped his team much in last night's game either. He shot 26% while the rest of the Dallas team shot 49%.
Please what? Dirk has way better supporting players than Yao has. When Yao has a off game, Rockets has little opportunity to win. Howerver, in this season, Mavs has won many games when Dirk was off.
It is just PATHETIC !!! This is a thread dedicated to congratulating Yao Ming getting his first Player of the Month Award, the first ever in the past 11 years for any Rockets since the great Hakeem Olajuwon. It should be all joy....all celebration. Who the hell cares about "Oh Dirk Nowitzki is much better than Yao Ming....he should get it instead of Yao Ming............blah blah blah blah...... The FACT is Yao Ming is POM November. PERIOD. Go away.....party spoilers !!!
Yao certainly can consider this a reward for effort , not just this season, but all the tirless work he's put in over the last 3 and a bit seasons. He's going to go down as one of the greatest big men of all time, and we're all along for the ride. Damn its good times to be a Rocket fan.
