Congratulations Yao! Coming back from the injury and starting the season strong! This is what he deserves!
Sir Charles was so stunned he vowed to go on a diet and then he ordered a dozen Big Macs and a Diet Coke
Wrong quote. The original statement from Sir Charles on national TV was ' I am going to kiss your ass if Yao score 18 in an NBA game.'
This is VERY significant. Will it settle the lack of respect issue about Yao with some members here? Hope so. This will not be the only Player of the Month Award he wins this season.
People in China don't give a **** about the word of 'Chinaman' because they don't know what the hell does that mean. Chinese American care about this it because they know the history of this word. As a matter of fact, Yao has absoulately no clue about what it means when Kerr called him Chinaman and also Shaq mocked him with Chinese accent. It was Chinese community in US 'educated' Yao, tried to tell him he should be angry. Yao himself really couldn't care less about these talks, I don't know if this is good or bad for him.
LOL. It says: "Despite the embarrassing rejection the 7-6 Yao received from the 5-8 Nate Robinson, the Rockets' center is still enjoying a career season." Wow, nba.com is going to rank him #5 even though he had one of his shots blocked? That's really big of them.
36% shooting, actually (0.359). Rudy Gay has been 0.400 or better for the last 3 games in a row. That's not too bad; here are some notables with shaky rookie seasons:
37.4 % Chauncey Billups 37.8 % Peja Stojakovic 38.3 % Rudy Tomjanovich
Yeah, I did a double take on Peja's rookie number too. And it wasn't because he was being JVG'd: he got plenty of minutes (21 / game). I think Rudy Gay is doing fine.
i wonder: of the past few season MVP's, what is the average POM awards won? there might be a hidden magic # to reach. like maybe every player that has won 3 POM awards in one season has gone on to win MVP.
Duncan won 3 POM in 2001-2002, and 1 for 2002-2003, KG won 4 POM in 2003-2004 Nash only won 1 POM in 2004-2005 and none for 2005-2006
