Yao is currently number 5 on the NBA.com race to MVP ranking: http://www.nba.com/features/player_rankings_061128.html
This ranking doesn't mean anything. It is the votes from media reporters/sports writers that count. Let's kiss Kelly Dwyer some serious ass here, clutch fans!!
Yes! Finally YAo gets some credit from non Rockets fans. This is well deserved and a sign of things to come.
surprised that boozer or deron didn't take the award...with their team record nonetheless....its about damn time!
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writers/kelly_dwyer/12/01/player.rankings/index.html Kelly Dwyer's power ranking: 1. Dirk N 2. Yao Ming Though some are still searching, it's become increasingly difficult to find fault with Yao's game. All he does is score 25.7 points per game for a Rockets team that milks the shot clock like no other, blocks shots (1.7 a night), rebounds (10.1), nails 54.4 percent of his shots and 84.7 percent of his free throws. The man is remarkably consistent as well: Wednesday's foul-plagued, 18-point performance against the Suns marked only the second time all season that Yao failed to score at least 20.
