You drive the price up. ie. Yao's injury isnt healing right, theyre gonna be desperate for another big man, lets see what more we can get out of them. And Im not sure if this is true but as for the Amare rumors Im pretty sure it was a Brooks and McGrady package and now it has become a CL,AB,TM package though I may be wrong on that.
“Yao is not experiencing any pain in his left foot, however, the results from the CT and bone scans we performed over the past two days indicate that the hairline fracture has not responded to the degree that we expected,” said Clanton. “We will review a variety of treatment options before proceeding.” That's enough for me, just don't start panicking, Yao suffered worse injuries than this.
No way. Mbenga won the championship single handily. We have to add Brooks, Landry, and 2 1st round picks.
Hairline fractures are b**** I had one on my ankle for over a year that just wouldn't heal, then I finally got the right treatment and it healed up in about 6 weeks. This was probably 2 months ago and I feel 100% now, but then again, I'm not a 7'6 professional athlete. I'm a 6 foot nothing 21 year old college student.
I think next steps would be a cast, or surgery if they are more aggressive.... Let's hope it is just a cast and a note to Yao to stay off the foot. DD
actually it could...just remember t-mac's little admission on the first day of training camp last season and switch him out with yao, thats what i'd call a worse time that was t-macs worse debbie downer moment EVER!!!
color me not surprised at all. how many doctors did we hear from on sports radio here locally during the playoffs saying that this would be very difficult to heal and would be a continually recurring problem for a man of that size?
Darn it. I agree. Put him in a cast or something already and don't let the guy move ... lock him in a room and throw away the key! I certainly hope nothing more serious or drastic like surgery etc. is called for by the docs. We still have time for him to rest+heal ... but the sooner he heals the more confidence we will have for the season. At any rate, another C on the Rox MUST be our number one priority.
Now it won't take me a second to trade Yao + T-man + Rocket's monkey-ball-sucking doctors for the medical team of the Suns'
One of those walking boots called "AirCast" is what finally helped me, I really didn't even rest it much at all, just kept the cast on whenever I was out and about and it took care of it.
I think he has had a walking boot already...was yours a walking boot, or a cast where you used crutches? DD
Maybe more so a little over reacting, but it certainly doesnt help when you're trying to do a draft and your C isnt healing right, or your in a process of a perhaps blockbuster trade but your C isnt healing right.
SHEEEEIIIIIIIITTTTTTTT!!! how can you not be concerned? i LOVE Yao but seriously? How many times do we have to deal with his constant injuries? This medical staff is a joke! Morey...you have some tough decisions to make.
Maybe this is an attempt to keep Yao from playing in those stupid Chinese basketball events in the summer ....
I haven't seen anywhere that mentioned what bone was fractured in Yao's foot, but this news should not be that alarming. The initial press release that said his "foot" would heal in 6 weeks was overly optimistic from the beginning. Weighing 300+ lbs is going to put more stress across the fracture than the typical 130lb female athlete that gets a stress fracture. . . .and take longer to heal. Without knowing the specific fracture you can't comment on the likely next step/prognosis, but I would have very little concern that this specific injury will not be healed by the beginning of the season. Certainly his history of multiple stress fractures (is this number 3?) is more concerning overall than this injury. And for those that commented on Clanton's medical knowledge and expertise. . . be assured his opinion is respected in the medical community. Somewhat of a moot points as he is moving his practice to a sports clinic in Vail (one of the most prestigious in the country). Yao's foot wouldn't have done any better or worse regardless of who the team physician is/was. . . Athletes get multiple medical opinions - especially for controversial injuries (why Andrews in AL ends up operating on athletes from teams all over the country).
