Just when I thought it couldn't get more ridiculous, you decide to analogize basketball operations with genocide. I really have to start honoring my pledge to stop getting into debates with rookies.
Statistics is every part of attempting to pin/label a player "Clearly Declined", as much as his injuries. Unless your the Black/White type. I am more of there has to be a "another color"
i think they are just issuing this statement so that Yao doesnt have National Basketball duties to attend to. Come on, whens the last time he had time to rest in the summer? Even last season when he was recuperating from that devastating stress fracture he suffered in the middle of the 22 win streak. even then, he had to play in the olympics. lets just give him this summer off. he should start full training around end Sept. i still have faith in Yao....
You're seriously comparing the Rockets sticking with Yao to that? Wanting and hoping for freedom is not remotely comparable to wanting Yao to stay a Rocket. To make that comparison is itself trivializing their struggles. It's not like there's some great cause in sticking with Yao and that letting him go would be a horrible injustice. The Rockets have no moral responsibility to keep Yao, and Yao has no such responsibility to stay a Rocket.
Clearly you dont' understand the meaning of Hope. You said it yourself I guess anybody who has hoped for something didn't get what they wanted. Its why I brought up history on events that people "hoped" for. Yes those examples are no where near the level of Yao and The Rockets, so I apologize if I offended anybody on that topic I guess I should of used the example of... Remember when you were a little kid and you "Hope" your Mom and Dad would get you that special toy but you thought you couldn't get it because the Toy was too expensive (or something like that). You never stopped hoping for it and who knows one day it happen. However what you suggest is "Hope" is foolish, there are millions of people who will tell you otherwise.
I think, maybe another team wants Scola for a trade, and the rockets don't want to give up him. So, they announced Yao's injury and tell them we need Scola.
I apologize for my example, it was too grand. See my other post. However the concept from Thecabbage is "Hope" is foolish for a FAN because there is no hope when it will happen again. Are you going to disagree with me as a FAN, that I can't "Hope" for the best. Seriously.......
This is the worst forum post I have ever seen on any forum in this life and the life to come. As a tall, large-framed guy who had a Lisfranc fracture 10 years ago, I'll tell you that once you start having foot problems, they never go away.
Worst post for what.... Hoping for the best. Seriously some of you must never had dreams or hopes for a team, which is foolish to deny. Yet its okay for other fans to say your hope if foolish because it won't happen. Yes the example is bad, I apologized for it already.
Hope is an emotional crutch, and its important for your mental health in trying times. But you shouldn't be making serious business decisions banking on "hope". If the odds make sense, do so. But it should be increasingly clear to everyone following along that the odds are not in Yao's favor going forward. We're not talking about pulling the plug on someone with cancer. Going in another direction would simply be a business decision.
good grief. the fact that you somehow have failed to comprehend the distinction between a fan's hope and that of an organization's (that actually has the power to make decisions) basically explains your bizarre opinions in this thread. please, stop. this is getting embarrassing and i am starting to feel bad.
The fact that you ignore the comment that a FAN can't have "Hope for the Best" I guess your the GM and Fans can't have hope that one of the rockets players remain healthy. right.......lets twist it around. Its embarrassing how some of you feel privileged because you posted longer than others.
what are you talking about? no one gives a rat's ass what you hope for. the whole scope of this discussion is the organization's decision to trade or not trade yao. only their "hope" in his health is relevant. this isn't that hard to understand. please. seriously.
Just let the puppy go, thacabbage. Someone posted Bill Walton's picture. Hey, at least Walton won a championship. Maybe we have hope. One thing for sure... Yao's not going anywhere anytime soon. I can't see anyone taking a chance on a player with this kind of injury who is a big question mark (no pun intended) and is going to expect a max contract.
When it comes to risk evaluation towards building a championship team, Yao needs to viewed as a luxury, and not a necessity. Yao's foot is a major concern and frankly, it's not smart to expect him to be 100% healthy and carry the team all the way. However, the timing for this announcement certainly is interesting. I wonder if Rockets are discouraging potential trade partners (who have what Rockets want) from asking Yao in any sort of deal....or sending out an early message to anyone who might consider it.
Durvasa my posts with TheCabbage have nothing to do with business decision. I will repeat this again, I said if Yao can be traded for value, than do it. That is a business decision. Hoping that a player remains healthy, has nothing to do with business decision it was my comment. Yet I get attacked for having some stupid hope "That Yao stays healthy so the Rocekts can win the championship" Did I post "Don't trade Yao because he will be healthy" Stop twisting words my words.
You guys need to start negative repping me when I do this (which is unfortunately becoming more and more frequent). It's bad for the board and even worse for my health.
