Thanks, Macming. Thanks to the OP, too, even though these babelfish translations are more frustrating than helpful.

No man, it was just hilarious. Someone should start a Babelfish competition in the hangout just to see if we could do Babelfish justice. :D

So Yao is a farmer now, big deal! What the man does in the off-season is his own business.

actually...this thread has been the funniest in a while. Its main saving grace is a better translation afterwards. The babelfish one cracks me up. ;)

does anyone remember the soup commander? also does anyone find it strange that Yao would talk about his "loose bowels" in an interview?

Post the link, get someone who knows the language to translate if they can. Most babelfish threads just turn into the circus this one is.

Actually I was about to translate and post here when I saw this article after coming back from my Easter holidays in China.

But since ccjj made a mess out of it and MacMing contributed his version afterwards, there is not much left for me to do, as MacMing did moderately well on his.

there are some good infos behind the exact words of the article, about Yao’s injury and yao’s breakout , I'd like try to translate part of it in my own’s way. Basically it’s literally translating.

Yao : Next year is the harvest year for Rockets

After Houston’s unexpected victory over Denver Nuggets, one more game is still on schedule for Yao’s teammates (to close the season). But for Yao, the season has already ended. when rehabilitating and resting for future, he reviewed the season with the hope for next season.

    - On the torture days when injured

Q: Talk about this time’s (broken foot) injury. Now do you feel that you should not have been in the (Utah) game with the pain (of sprained ankle) ?

Yao:It used to be said that minor injury or illness should be bore up, and in general one got rest unless it’s a big one. In fact, in the Warriors game my foot (injury) was already not so good. In Sacramento everybody had known my foot sprained, (but not everybody knew) I also had diarrhea for a whole day. That night in the game I felt no strength in my body at all. At last in Utah my foot was injured. For the last 3 games (I felt that ) things did not go well for me.
At that time my thought was I should insist on the game. I’ve learned lessons from the previous toe surgery that when you fell uncomfortable you must speak it out, indeed I had already told the team medicine ( the situation). But I thought that I was still able to play (under that situation), due to the (above) habit.

Q: What’s your thought then when the team kept getting someone injured?

Yao: We thought that maybe someone would get hurt the other days again, then new faces would come on again. The team kept get guys hurt, it made us very nervous, even to the extent of annoying (towards injuries).

Q: What’s the hardest time for you this season except for injuries?

Yao: The hardest time were the beginning days after T-Mac’s first injury. All of sudden I felt very big pressure on. Indeed I didn’t do well enough during that period. From individual performance to leading the team, it’s totally failure. I flet lost strongly that time, everyday is so long for me. But with T-Mac’s coming back, team did well day by day, it freed me from that feeling gradually. Of course it did not completely disappear, after all I didn’t win one game for the team (without T-Mac).

But after that, I have suddenly been injured, at that time I was disappointed very much. Our team is only several games below .50, and team morale is high. With the 5 wins of 6 road games, everyone (teammates) felt our hope (for playoff) still alive. This is also the reason why I could play with the (toe) pains, hoping to catch up .50 as soon as possible. That period of time, the day is really hard.

Q: When came back from injury, you have a breakout and play on new level. you were totally different after ASG. (so what’s your opinion on breakout?)

Yao: Actually it should be a process. I meant (the breakout is a process from the time ) before toe injury to (the time) after toe injury. It’ll take time to fully rehabilitation from injuries, and I did my best to help it. In fact, rehabilitation is always achieved step by step.
Before (toe) injury, I already found the changes of myself, in the aspects of skills utilization, speed and strength, etc. After ASG, it (the process came out) seemed to equal to a breakout. Just like hill climbing, it is a rise process (vertically).
