I agree, cursing will not gain respect from other players, and also I don't think cursing a good way to show one's confidence.

I believe Yao Ming's already got all the respect he needs from other players. Now lets wait for the officials to come around (probably never).

It is kinda sad that Yao has to act immature to be considered mature.

Guys like Kobe, TMac, KG...they use profanity all the time. Basketball is a 50% mind game and there's nothing more intimidating than trash talking to a player who cant guard you. Yao Ming knows hes the best center in the league. Now he's got the vocabulary to go with it.

HA! How long have you been watching basketball? You don't think Jordan, Bird, or Kobe ever cussed? Yeah, right.

I may be the minority, but I disagree with the use of the f-word. I love the attitude, but its yao, how would you feel if shane said it? It wouldve been perfect without the fword.

the more i watch it..i agree.

but atleast yao is developing some kinda attitude. calling out refs, showing excitement after made baskets ..good signs of him taking over. we just need someone else to step up to provide him with help in scoring. someone is going to have to make up tracy's 25 a night.

I don't think Yao's exclamation emerged from a brand new bad a personality...it's born out of frustration. The dude gets fouled constantly - how many free throws did he get today? 9? How much did he get pushed around in the Lakers game? He's getting a bad deal and he knows it.

I think his comment is more like letting a little frustration out through an f-bomb pressure valve...perhaps it's healthy...you dont want him keeping that in and blowing a gasket..that wouldnt be pretty (see Denver vs. Knicks..kidding)
