I say he has replied to the thread title instead of the post. I agree the thread title is somewhat misleading though.

 

I hate seeing wide open looks not being capitalized. Maybe we need to have guys practice shooting more. Or bring Novak in good stretches to open things up.

 

I am pretty sure Van Gundy, Yao, Head, Alston everyone pretty much know that. As much as tentativeness plays a part, I think it is more of teams adjusting to Yao and forcing others to beat them. If you are the opposition Yao is the last person you would want to have the ball to score.

So how do we overcome this? (1) Devise an innovative scheme to get more ball to Yao in a scoring position - going after same play on and on again won't work. Being a good shooter that he is, I want to see more high post pick & roll involving Yao. (2) Alstons, & Heads got to make their shots to keep defense honest, which they failed to do miserable last game. Van Gundy is not going to bring substantial improvement in Head and Alston in short space of time, so we have no choice to expand our plays. And bringing one or two genuine scorers is imperative.

What's with people getting all obsessive about a post? Yao feeling tired about "fighting ALONE." When Stephon Marbury wrote "All ALONE" on his shoe, he got criticized for putting his teammates down.

If Marbury gets criticized, why is Yao exempt when both players say they feel alone on the court?

Besides, I wasn't even serious about him demanding a trade or hating his teammates. I was commenting on how everyone got so giddy about his "Americanization" when he starts complaining about the ref, then when he starts showing up his opponents... somebody even made a thread earlier about him needing to "learn from Andrew Bynum" by cursing at this teammates.

Well, guess what American superstar atheletes also got? Big ego, pride, wanting to win, propensity to ask for trades when unhappy (See McGrady, Tracy).

I was merely making a comment on the fact that people getting boners about him being "Americanized" (or specifically, becoming more like the rest of the American NBA Stars) may be misguided. There are positive an negative aspects to this "Americanization." I pointed that out in (what I thought) was a lighthearted post, and people get all sensitive.

As for the "quality" of my posts. Frankly, I don't give a ****. I just say what I want. Not like I get paid to either read or write posts here. It's a message board, not a writing competition.

 

Yeah, I'm sure the Rockets players realized they had to play better only after reading this board.

Because, you know, they can't get the same information from the coaching staff, from Yao, or by watching game films. I'm sure there's nothing else that alerted them to the possiblity that Yao needs more support.

Probably better to get your point across directly, rather than a sarcastic quip. When I read your post all I saw was 'flame-war material'. I know you didn't mean it that way, but I certainly didn't get your point until now.

 

I read the original Chinese report, Yao didn't compain anything about his teammates. How come the report has such a misleading title? Eye-catching but misleading.

 

There's nothing wrong with your translation. The original Chinese title itself is misleading. That's what the complaints are about. It's not fair to dump it on to you. I guess to improve on what you did might be some kind of disclaimer to clarify that this is not a report on Yao's bashing his teammates.

Sorry, pryuen, I don't mean your translation is wrong, as you just translated the original article into English (thanks for your good job!). My point is Yao didn't say that in the interview, it is the reporter Wang Meng that created the title and delivered wrong information to us.

 

Simply trying to match the prevailing quality of posts in many of the recent threads.
