Sure, Rox wants to do it that way. But sometimes, you body can not do all the things your mind wants to do. You want to jump 100 feet in your mind, but your body can never do it. At least during the summer, Yao is out of Rox's control.

Most people do not realize the importance of summer training. Modern day NBA players recover their body and improve themselves during the summer. It was widely known that Jordan trained himself very hard during the summer. It was also widely known that Jordan told Barkeley to work hard during the summer to earn a ring, but Barkeley never did that so it is one of the major reasons that he never won a ring. Barkeley is a lazy ass anyway. Pippen said that as well.

When Duncan got drafted, Spurs put Duncan in Robinson's house for his first summer training. Duncan responded by producing a 20-10 season.

My thinking when I started this string was not that I want to think about trading Ming, I just want him to get to be the dominant center He has the talent to be.

From everything I have read about the training for the national team in China they are told how to live and it is controled like you were in the army. If that is true then his summer is going to be spent the way the national team coach thinks best for his team and to hell with the NBA, an Rockets needs.

If he has been going for 4 years with out a break, then this summer is shot and then another NBA season, then the olympic's the next summer, then another NBA season. He will be completing his rookie contract without having a break for what 6-7 years. Talk about hitting a wall!

I'm confused... sun12, are you worrying about yao not getting enough rest now? or yao not training hard enough now?

why I'm feeling some of us are trying to argue for BOTH at the SAME time? :)

I would like to see him have a off season to rest and train on the things he needs to improve on for his game at the NBA level.

Most improvement is make between the first and second year at all levels of play. He is going to lose his chance to do that and that is what concerns me.

I am worried that Yao is not going to get much rest, plus he is not going to get the right training. I am afraid he is going to get low-quality high-intensity training, the worst kind of. He probably is going to re-learn his old bad habit. Then once the next NBA season starts, he has to re-learn everything he learned this season: a bad cycle waiting to happen.

Wow, so you have great confidence on those Rox assistant coach, don't you?

How can you guarantee Yao's improvement under those video editor's training? Through this season can you name some "good habits" Yao learned from them?

So far all the move and skills Yao used right now are learned from his past training. The most significant impact Yao had here is put some weight and muscle, that is not too bad though.

To me , Yao should hire some personal tutors during the summer, like Mose Malone, etc. That is kind the person can really help him develop no matter he is training in US or China. Neither Rox assistance or NT coach can help a lot.

If he stays in the US, he can find the personal trainer who can help him. If he goes to China, first, his schedule is controlled by the NT; second, it is difficult to find a good personal trainer who knows NBA games.
