    From the Chron:

Yao Ming said that he was surprised that taping a television commercial was a more grueling that it appears, but having seen his spot for a computer, taped with actor Verne Troyer (who plays Mini Me in the Austin Powers movies), he was happy with the result.

In the commercial, Yao and Troyer are passengers on a plane sitting next to one another.

"When I sew the finished product, I definitely enjoyed it. It was pretty funny," Yao said. "But the process of making it was very tiring. I had to sit there with lights on my face. It felt like I was right up against the sun."

There is no chance, however, that Troyer would replace Yao's interpreter and friend Colin Pine as his Mini Ming.

"He was sitting in Colin's seat," Yao said.

Did you do as he said and "save as target" to your desktop or wherever? It worked fine after I did.

Yes, the URL is "whack." I think Akamai URLs may be rotated frequently to prevent this sort of download. You can still view the ad on the Apple web site, you just can't download it. Maybe once yaoming.net is up...

It was reported in the Chinese Press that a charter plane took him to LA right after the Rockets vs. Bucks Games on 12/31 to shoot the ad. Again, another charter plane took him to NYC from Orlando right after the Rockets vs. Magic Games. He visited VISA. Expect to see his VISA ad on the All-Star Day.

Thanks for the pix. That 17" PowerBook is amazing! It's practically big enough to completely hide Mini-Me, but less than 7 pounds! Damn, I wish I had $3299! :(

P.S. Isn't the "red rubber band" a bracelet given to him by his girlfriend?

    Yes.

    A promise bracelet.

A promise not to become a hoe-dawg with
Francis and Mobley out on the town! :)
